to be honest and wouldnt be so keen to buy the very very best pc, i would buy just 1 step under.

have a look at these 2 from alienware http://www.alienware.com/Landings/desktops.aspx
the one on the right is not 2 times better , but is 2 times the price.
money might not be the issus for you, but techonolgy is rapidly becoming better and better and the it would be better to get, in my option the one on the left and save a lot of that money , and buy anotherone in a year or so.
You wont have a problem running anything on the left one
my only concern is it's a bit short on memory (ram). but still very good.

office work. Do you think you will be using the pc for a lot of office work, if so you might want to invest in mirosoft office for €100 or use libre office for free.
all extras are under customizes at the dell checkout .

again , you might be able to afford the most dearest pc there is but do remember , in a few years times it wont be as good as your phone(bit of an over statement but you get the point).

Get value for money as well as a great pc.

Also i wouldnt invest in 3d , and dont buy headset and speakers off them , get them cheaper in pc world or somewhere like that
dont buy priters and other stuff like that off them ,and espically 30 day free mc security protection or , phone support for 4 years.

If you really want a seriously fast computer then you should get somebody on here to spec you one and build it for you. You'll get more bang for your buck that way and you'll get one built specifically for YOUR needs.

I already did: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showt...p?t=2056611060
Ridiculously better than any Alienware for the same price or less.

TheGunns,

As above I would not bother with alienware, been there & bought one.they're not all the cracked up to be, you're paying top dollar but they scrimp on things like PSU's, RAM etc.

Much better get one built for you as you can decide on what exact components you require, and if you're paying 2-3k you could get a very decent rig easily.

Research & decide what the components match the requirements of the programs you pan t run (>16 Gig RAM, Multithreading CPU, etc.) and go from there. For that money you could easily go 27-30" or Multi screen as well.

edit: If you feel better about a pre-built system for support reasons, Scan's 3xs systems blow Dell/alienware out of the water.

If you are based in Dublin I can build you a computer that will beat any Dell/Alienware/whatever for much much cheaper. You'll also have a longer warranty on each part, better upgrade options and a customized computer to suit your specific needs. It really is a waste of money to go with a pre-built.

Complete change of plan

1. What is your budget? [€700]
2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] an all rounder really
3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes]
4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? no
5. Do you need a monitor? [No]
6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] all
7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]
8. How can you pay? [Debit Card]
9. When are you purchasing? sometime in next couple months

Decided to change around completely and not go with a pre built as I saw how easy it is to put one together rather than pay a rake of more money. That said I still need help so if someone could give me a general idea of parts for a system or at least what I need for the computer to turn on and be capable of minor applications then I can gradually build it up to my requirements. Budget is not strict but in or around that price. Preferably the case would be very upgradable and have plenty of options.
Thanks.

Here's 2 suggestions that are a bit over budget but will run anything:

OCUK

Item Link Price
CPU/MB/RAM: Krypton Z68 TURBO Intel Core i5/i7 @ 4.60GHz 8GB DDR3 Overclocked Bundle http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=BU-092-OE £400
Cooler: (included with CPU)
GPU: Club3D HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-030-C3 £162

Case: NZXT Tempest 410 Midi Tower http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=701&catid=7 £54
PSU: OcUK Swift 750W V2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=701&catid=123 £36

Total: £800 / €981 including shipping

komplett.ie

Item Link Price
MB: ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3 - Socket 1155 - ATX http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...x/details.aspx €94
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz 6MB S1155 http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...5/details.aspx €200
Cooler: (included with CPU)
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DIMM- 8GB 1600MHz PC3-12800 http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...0/details.aspx €55
GPU: Sapphire RADEON HD 6870 - 1GB- PCI-E http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...e/details.aspx €160
SSD: OCZ Agility 3 60GB http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...0/details.aspx €78
HDD: WD 1TB WD10EZRX http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...b/details.aspx €95
Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...u/details.aspx €48
PSU: Corsair - Builder CX430 V2 - 430 Watt http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/...t/details.aspx €48

Total: €778 including shipping

6870 is a little slower than 6950, but not by much. The CPU's are unlocked, so you can OC some if you want. If you want to save some cash, skip to a slower i5 CPU, remove the SSD, maybe find a cheaper motherboard (less SATA ports, no USB3 etc).
