I reckon this is partly due to the fact that companies like our current ISP's and the media arent giving the internet the type of reputation it deserves. People who dont use the internet think that as soon as you log on your greeted with porn and nerdy techobabble. Which is only the case if you set your system up that way
, The problem could be that its been reported by people who dont understand the net themselves...Its up to the ISP's to offer easy to install, affordable and well informed packages to the public so that people will give it a go. |

It's statistics, it's spin. You can spin statistics to say what you want, particularly if you ask the "right" questions of the "right" people. And people have realised that for ages, and regularly take the mick out of it:
http://www.google.com/search?q=statistics+quotes Anyway, I mean it's Amárach, right? I mean, come on! Personally, I think all statisticians should be taken outside and shot. But humanely, obviously. Quickly and painlessly. Put them out of their misery. "And what do you do for a living?" "I'm a statistician." "Ah, so you *count* for a living?" "Ah no, it's much more complex than that..." "No it's not..." *BANG* adam |

Well, as us Germans say: "Never trust statistics that you did not fake yourself!"...
I assume part of the lack of interest is the lousy offering of the ISP's over here. If there was decent internet access at a decent price available in this country interest would be higher as well. |
