"Passé historique" -- isn't that the one used in novels and stuff, on the leaving cert paper there's usually a piece partially in it.

Yeh smiles, its only used in stories n stuff to talk about the past. You only need to know how to recognise it for the leaving.

Subjunctif is used to express verbs of wishing or wanting. e.g:

Mon prof veut que je fasse mes devoirs.
(faire)

No need to know all of them. You might sound like 'Jacouille' in ' Les visiteurs' if you speak with passe historique

The ending for the first person singular in the future tense is
"- ai", not "- ais" ("- ais" is used in the imperfect and the conditional).

So it should be je donnerai, je chercherai, j'aurai soif, etc.

I only included the Passé Historique & Present Subjunctive with être cause it's such a common verb, and it is needed in those tenses (even if just for recognition purposes) for the leaving cert. The present subjuntive is also used after other set phrases, e.g. bien que (even though)

Je ne vais pas manger chez lui bien que j'aie faim.
(I'm not going to eat at his house even though I'm hungry).
