Starting Threads

Topics should be relevant to the Modified Motors board.

Personal attacks will result in a ban. Repeated offenses will result in a permanent ban.

No pimping, selling or advertising will be tolerated.

It is also the general consensus that text speak is a very hard language to read so posts containing it will receive a warning and subsequent posts containing it will be removed

Continuing Threads

Replies should be kept on-topic. We realise that threads may naturally "drift", but there are limits.

Reporting & Moderating

If you have a problem with a post, complain to the mods, Draffodx or Any of the other motors mods. Do not respond to the post in question.

If they agree with the complaint, moderators will edit/delete any reported post, or contact the poster via PM.

txt speak will not be tolerated, on first offence it will be edited, on the second you will be issued with a warning, on the third you will be banned

Moderators may also edit/delete any post/thread which in their opinion breaks the rules, whether it was reported or not.

Moderators will not keep a copy of any edited/deleted material.

When an argument breaks out, we will not care who started it. It takes at least two people to have an argument, and both sides will be dealt with appropriately.

Moderators will warn individuals of unacceptable beheaviour, but not on a repetitive basis. Repeated infractions will result in bans.

Bans will be replicated across the entire motors forums.

The moderators will not discuss their moderating in threads. Either PM the moderators, or take it to the feedback forum.

Civility

Every poster is entitled to their opinion - whether it is ill-informed or not.

Never attack a poster. Attack the content of their post. (You can tell someone that their opinion is based on incomplete or incorrect information, but do not call them an idiot.)

Keep your language civil, particularly when referring to other posters.

While good-natured abuse will be tolerated to a certain level, it is ultimately the moderator's decision as to when abuse steps over the line. Please bear this in mind.

Links to questionable material

Some links to material that some people may find disturbing may arise during the course of a discussion. We (the moderators and admins) reserve the right to edit or delete these links if they are determined to be off the topic or otherwise not relevant to the conversation. We may also pull the link if it is particularly graphic or obscene. If you are going to link to potentially offensive material then be sure to include a clear warning as to the nature of the material you have linked.

Duplicate Accounts

Any user suspected by the moderators of using a duplicate account on the forum will have the duplicate account(s) and their original account banned permanently from the forum. The moderators may also petition the admins to ban the duplicate accounts and original account from boards permanently as well.

For Sale/Wanted Threads

This is not an advertising forum, any advertising in any form will not be tolerated, the post will be removed immediately and the poster may incur a ban.

General Talk

There has been a lot of stereotyping and muppetry style talk on the main motors forum about modified cars and there owners, anyone posting the same sort of crap in the modified motors forum will have there thread deleted immediately and will incur a warning, repeated offenses will result in a motors wide ban.

Any muppetry of the "My Pipe Is Bigger Than Your Pipe/Your XXXX GTI Is Crap" variety will not be tolerated. First ban will be for a week the second will be at the Mods discretion so it could be a looooonnnng time.

Any ban here will be replicated across the Boards Motors Empire.

Boards.ie - Motoring Procedures For Complaints
If you have a complaint about a post, please use the Report Post function (see the

icon to the left of the post) to make a complaint. This will then be dealt with by one of the moderators.

Should you have a complaint about an issue within the Motors forum then please follow the following escalation channels using the Private Messaging system:
1. Forum Moderators - a list of moderators can be found at the bottom of each forum main screen - best off CCing them all in your PM as we mods sometimes venture offline to do other things.
2. Category Moderator (kbannon and AlmightyCushion)
3. Help Desk

Should you feel that you are not satisfied with the outcome from contacting the Forum Mods, then try the Cmod. Should you still be unsatisfied, the start a thread in the helpdesk forum. Should you deviate away from these channels and go to the helpdesk initially (for example) then, you will be redirected back towards these channels.

Finally, mods are unpaid and lead somewhat normal lives (we have nagging wives or busy jobs or exciting cars) so please give us a chance to deal with your queries. We do try to remain impartial and open. Sometimes we may wish to get further advice to decide the fairest outcome so please be patient.
