[QUOTE=silas]Yeah I remember the video for it too, at 6 or 7 I fecking hated the song and video, thought it was crap, at even 6 common sense prevailed and sorta still does (what idiot crosses the road without looking in both directions), so thats kept me alive. Maybe everyones different, Im sure other than yourself the songs helped some people.
QUOTE] I was being facetious! if anything this ad and it's UK equivalent may have actually added to raod death and injury amongst kids. There was some evidence in the 70's to suggest that kids using these safe methids felt that they were immune from being hit! the kids thought that even an oncoming car would avoid them and not hit them if they kept walking and watching and so forth. God, I just bored myself there! |

It was:
remember, one, look for a safe place two, don't hurry, stop and wait, three look all around and listen before you cross the road, remember, four, let all the traffic pass you five, then walking straight across you six, keep watching, that's the safe cross code!!!!! safe place, stop and wait safe place, stop and wait safe ground, look around, listen for a traffic sound if traffic's coming let it pass until the road is clear at last then walking straight across the road keep watching, that's the code. remember, one, look for a safe place two, don't hurry, stop and wait, three look all around and listen before you cross the road, remember, four, let all the traffic pass you five, then walking straight across you six, keep watching, that's the safe cross code that's the safe cross code know the safe cross code know the code! ![]() The video for it was filmed in Kilmacud in Dublin, near O'Dwyers pub on the lower Kilmacud Road. I live near there, so I recognise it easily enough. The whole ad, with Judge, Foxy and Mr. Crow of Wanderly Wagon - which none of todays kids would know - was a great. I enjoyed it. Still, I can be a bit of a jaywalker, but I've never been hit by a car, yet!
