Dell E6400 New CCFL screen White on boot up.

Hi Guys first time to post here....
I have a dell E6400 that had a damaged screen. I ordered a replacement screen from US for the system. I have connected the screen but on bootup all I get is a white screen, I have connected the laptop to a vga monitor and it is displaying correctly. My old screen is too damaged and does not show anything.
I have read on the web that a white screen can be a faulty, is this correct ????????....
I do not have another 6400 or screen to test. I contacted the supplier and that have stated that the screen is tested before they are shipped, and there does not seem to be any damage to the screen. Could it be a cable issue ???

Wrong screen, risky buying from US!! Dell screens generally are not generic screens, I would advise people to buy from Ireland or UK so you have a comeback, can't imagine how you got it cheaper in US with customs and shipping? Does your laptop still work on external monitor?

I got the screen for 83 euros delivered from the US, the cheapest on ebay was 160 euros.

My laptop works fine on an external monitor. I will be trying on a different E6400 next week we will see how it goes then.
