Q about updating firmware on samsung 830 ssd

Hi
I can see by the Samsung SSD Magician that there is new firware available to update.
Just windering is it safe to update by Windows solution, its telling me to back up my data.
I have my OS and apps on the ssd, do i need to back up the OS?

Good rule of thumb with firmwares in general is not to update unless the newer firmware addresses an issue you have with the current one.

If its not broken, don't fix it.

Also it would be wise to do a complete backup of all files to another drive I you do.

Just to plug Macrium Reflect as a great freeware App for doing an image if its your system drive.
