AIB Closing In Dunboyne And Dunshauglin

AIB will be closing its doors to the Dunboyne and Dunshaughlin branches. Sad news for the staff and also for the people of these areas as now there will be no AIB branches between Blanchardstown and Navan.

AIB closing branches where transactions are <20 of the top performing branches. Persumably customers in Dunboyne bank in Dublin or where they work monday to friday so they reckon the branch is not required. Dunshaughlin according to the 2011 census has <6,000 residents so they reckon there is not enough population to support the branch there. BTW there is a BOI branch in Dunshauglin so it will take up the slack.

Better get used to this, if you want a bank branch in your home town then it may not be the branch you want.

Aside from the employees losing their jobs (which is not nice and not welcomed at all) - i cannot see any problems with smaller branches closing for normal customers. (but i can for business customers)

I would use online banking all the time and would say i have only called into my local branch twice in the past year (and that was only to lodge a cheque or two - which you can now do in the credit union now anyways) And local AIB business can be done in the post office now too.

Like i say, the job losses are not welcome and i feel sorry for those employees.

The employees and business customers are the only ones i can see who would be affected in any major way.

I think you're missing a zero for the population figure there?

Census 2011 figures list 5,674 for Dunshaughlin urban and 48,391 for Dunshaughlin rural

None are losing jobs, there positions are just being moved to AIB Ashbourne or closer locations, they are all still employed.

The facilities of AIB Dunshaughlin are also available in the post office in Dunshaughlin through the AIB partnership.
