Irish Independent is hogwash

That's probably being unkind to hogwash, used to buy it on Saturdays just to get the TV schedule mag in it.

Remember the Property section pull out pre 2008 that had more pages than the actual paper?, encouraging us all to join the great Ponzi scheme. Brendan O'Connor used to whip up the property frenzy in the Sunday Indo as well.

Why do they report stuff that goes on in Arkansas or some other part of Northern America when it meant to be an Irish newspaper.

I remember being in Eason's in town and seeing these two women poring over Andrea Corr's marriage to the son of Billionaire tax avoider Dermot Desmond, ( like these celebs give a toss about the people who follow them like mugs ).

Even some of the better articles are lifted from the UK Independent, Telegraph or Guardian, this is especially true in the sports section.

Why do we need the opinions of Ian O'Doherty or Kevin Myers, is it because they think we can't figure things out for ourselves?

Even their website sucks

Most of stuff they report from the U.S is mainly stuff that shouldn't get out of the state in terms of it's newsworthiness, of course allowances should be made for stuff that affects things internationally,

I agree with OP. The standard however in almost all news papers has gone down recently. There used to be a divide between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers. It was much more that just the publication size, it was the content that really had the difference. That seems to have gone now and it is the trashiest crap that seems to be the main selling points. I read todays sensationalist version of the Independent and it is a pity to see this downgrading of quality. The sad thing OP is that this seems to be fine with most people.

OP, your anger would be better directed towards the person who is obviously dragging you kicking & screaming to the newsagents every day to part with your hard earned €1.90, and forcing you to read the Indo from cover to cover against your will.
