Cricket Ireland gets $500,000 from ICC

Cricket Ireland has welcomed the decision of the ICC Board to approve a $500,000 per annum grant from the Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP) - TAPP is aimed at developing more competitive teams among Full and Associate/Affiliate Members.

The grant which will run until 2015 has been earmarked by Cricket Ireland for a number of initiatives aimed at continuing the magnificent development work being carried out throughout Ireland, which has seen both the profile and number of participants of the sport growing exponentially.

These initiatives include securing additional fixtures against Full Members, the formation of a National Academy and the organisation of an Interprovincial Series.

Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom said: "We are delighted and grateful to ICC for this award which will help Cricket Ireland achieve their stated objectives. We shall be exploring in greater detail the award and terms of the grant with ICC management in order to ascertain how to prioritise the funding towards the proposals that we outlined in our applications."

Anyone know whether this is a really weak reply to our request for more games . Can't find anything in board minutes to suggest this was even discussed!

Hopefully the mone is put towards a winter tour + extra infrastructure in Munster/ Connacht
