how to get a photo removed from a website

Not sure if I have the correct page but does anyone know how to get a photo removed from a website?
It was taken without the persons permission while they were asleep in a partially undressed state and they are very distressed by its appearance online.
I know that once its out there it out there but any help would be appreciated

First, ask politely. If that doesn't work, come back and tell us some actual details.

photo was taken while friend was asleep (and a little drunk) in her nightdress.her nightdress was hitched up, her underwear was removed and a photo taken , so you can understand why link wont be added.
she is currently looking into legal action but would like to just sweep it under the radar and be done with it

I havent been given the address, but was shown the picture (with editing for modesty) she would prefer not to promote the site but suffice it to say it is a porn related site.

If you ask this on the photography forum you should get some good advice.

Hope who ever took the picture gets shown the error of their ways, unacceptably ****ty thing to do.

if you know what the website is you can go to www.whois.net, put in the website address and it should give you the details of who registered the website and sometimes contact details.

Worth a try, the contact details aren't always there though.

(example for Microsoft : http://www.whois.net/whois/microsoft.com)

I assumed it was facebook or something. Did a site take the image from a facebook account?

A scummy thing to do. But why people don't bother to control/tweak their privacy settings on FB is beyond me.
