Heading back for the hills after a long break...

Hi all,

I did a fair bit of hiking a few years back, but it's been a good while now since I've done anything serious.

Looking to get back into the swing of things now and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions in terms of what "intermediate" hikes would be nice to ease myself back in? Put on a few pounds and all that...

I like overnights. Still have all my old gear. Based in Cork.

Thanks in advance.

Torc and the Old Road between Kenmare and Killarney.

Mangerton.

The Paps.

If you like overnights, you could always do Killarney Kenmare via Torc and the Old Road one day, maybe take in a few peaks to the wset like Foardal and Peakeen, and then back along a parallel route taking in Knockrower, Shaking Rock and possibly even Mangerton the next.

Check out http://www.kerrycamino.com/

Can be done over 2 legs or 3.

Goes around the mountains rather than over them but challenging enough all the same especially over two days.

Also Lough Acoose to Derrycunnihy Church along the Kerry Way.

I'd second the Paps. Include the green road in the valley east of the Paps along by Lough Glennafreaghaun. Butterworts in full bloom at the moment !
