gta 5 map size

its been said that this map will be 4 times bigger than liberty city and that just los santo's but who really wants a map that big because if you look at the LA noire map which is enormous even that map is a bit too big for my liking because im on it and have to get to the other side im like fcuk that and the V map is going to be bigger than that, would you ever bother getting round it
what do you think do we need a map this big

Big maps work in GTA, part of what makes the big maps in SA was having plenty to do outside of missions though. If it's like LC you'll get bored of the map size fairly quickly I suppose. There's also the planes, if the map was small the planes wouldn't make sense.

LA Noire is different though. The majority of that map is just city, also a lot of it looks similar as in street by street. That's what made it dull I reckon.

The reason why LA Noire's map was a bit frustrating was because of the crap driving, which I'd compare to that of The Getaway which came out ten years ago ( Team Soho and Team Bondi are pretty much the same people/company so there's surprise there).

We already know from the GTA V trailer that there will be country, city, suburb, mountains, water/sea, beaches, industrial areas, airports and may more. LA Noire had F all of this.

For what LA Noire was I liked it. It was the first of its kind, there could of being improvements but from what I read somewhere they had trouble putting the game onto a Blue-Ray due to it's size, so really we never got to see what was originally intended to be what the makers had wished for.

If there's planes in this gta then the map will need to be massive, you can get across san andreas in 2 minutes in a hydra in GTA SA, i dont like that, i think a massive map will do wonders for the flying.

Go over the no fly zone and see how long it takes you

Besides, the whole idea of flying is to cover large distances in a short time. If you want to be flying for an hour, get a flight simulator.

This pisses me off. MOST people loved SA and the size of the map was arguably the main reason, however, a sizeable minority didn't like the big map. That's nonsensical to me but I think Rockstar latched on to this reaction, again, from the sizeable minority.

You don't have to visit the whole map! Alot of us loved just dossing about in a country area! The bigger the map the better

you just proved my point if you stick to one area then why would you want a massive map and also if the map is huge then that has an effect the quality of the rest of the game

I'd agree that making the map too big would hurt the overall quality, but I think to an extent the bigger the map is the better.

The only drawback of the large map in SA was the countryside, whose roads were a maze at times and a pain in the hole to get around.

I'd welcome a map the same size as Red Dead Redemption if a big chunk was a city. But they need to fill it with stuff to do. Bring back taxi missions, firefighter, ambulance, burglaries, casinos, betting shops, most of the friend activities from IV (not the constant phone call part) etc etc and it'd be grand.

Also, getting around wouldn't be a huge problem if they keep the ability to take a taxi like in IV. I rarely drive anywhere in IV now, just use a taxi unless I specifically want to have a fast car when I get to my destination.

Then why do you want a huge map? Surely the whole idea in wanting a bigger map is so that you have more to explore? If you just taxi everywhere, youre not exploring much.

The fried activities in TLAD were perfect. They never called you, but were always on hand if you wanted to do something. Plus, the fact that you could do four activites in the one go was a big plus. Never seen the point of the casinos etc. Fun the first time but boring as hell very soon after.

I didn't explain that very well. I use taxis to get to mission start points, to get to my safehouse when I want to save, to get a place where I know I need to go. But if V had a huge map, I'd spend ages just walking around the city exploring, same in the country, but still know that if the mood took me to do mission it's never a case that I'll have to drive across the entire map to get to start point.

Indeed, TLAD got it just right on that score. I want the friend mechanic and dating to stay in V, but I want it to be set so that you choose to do it, not have them bother you constantly.

Casinos would be handy for making cash. RDR's saloons with Poker and Liar's Dice was pretty fun.

One thing i hope they take from TLAD is calling in backup for when you're in a firefight, that was fun, i used to hole up in burger town and call them in when it got to hectic for a bit of extra support.

Bar the DLC for IV, have they ever done that?

If its open from the start, you have no reason to do the missions.
