might be better have getting a pre-owned wii cost-wise!
if it works somewhat, or you have access to another wii, you could rip YOUR games to an SD Card or USB device + run them directly from there, therefore not needing the actual disc drive much.

It's rarely ever that, & the OP already tried it. Wii's are as bad as PS3/360's for having poor quality laser diodes

My suggestion:

OP said she cleaned the disc, not the laser.

Main issue there thought is that the second hand Wii you've bought could be on the brink of failure too!

If you don't have the knowhow, then buy a second hand one for cheap.

If you fancy a little project and a Wii which should last you a good while longer with a new laser, install a new one.

$6 plus delivery & maybe an hour to fix if its your first time...not bad value if you ask me. As o1s1n said, whos to say the 2nd hand Wii's laser isn't about to give up the ghost. It's a really cheap & easy repair

Just to check, is this with all games, or just with some of them?

Is it making unusual noises when spinning the disks up? Could there be anything *in* your drive? I had to disassemble a Wii before to remove an object that had been accidentally put into the disk drive.
