Horse Racing, starting bank €100, bit of everything

The start of the flat season, no better time to start a log

Starting bank €100, will be backing and laying and this one might be less boring than the last one I had too, although if it's as profitable I'll be delighted.

No aims or targets as such, would like to make squillions though

2.40 Doncaster Bannock 3 €2.00 tbp and 9.2 €2.00 to win.

A 6f Class 1 listed race on good ground, 14 runners. Bannock has been placed in 7 of is 12 starts, as a 3 yo slots in nicely on adjusted ratings here. The last time Bannock ran over this trip on good ground was in October at York, winning the Class 1 2yo contest quite cosily by 2l.

Bannock has had a recent run on the AW over 7f in a decent class 1 race last week, finishing 3rd, that was a good effort and with the return to 6f here being in his favour I think the price looks quite valuesome

The favourite, Sirius Prospect has won 5 from 9 starts but looks horribly short at 3.5 to back, didn't run too well when making the debut last year in April over an admittedly challenging 8f trip.

'twould be nice to start off with a decently priced winner

3.30 Kempton Eshtibaak 1.85 €6.00 layed tbp

Eshtibaak won lto over 10f at Lingfield staying on strongly suggesting 11f would be very suitable, that was a 0 to 95, this is a 1 to 105 but effectively is a 0 to 99, Eshtibaak looks very skimpily priced to be placed here from a mediocre draw, admittedly there are 4 to be placed.

Surely William Haigh can't make it 6 wins on the trot.... William Haigh 10 €2.00 backed to win and layed to win bet placed for in running as a stake saver .......... 3 €2.00

4.05 Kempton Palace Moon 8.4 €2.00 backed to win, looney big price I think if this CD winner is after recovering fully from lto when he broke a blood vessel, should be fine really all things considered so is bang up there with the fav imo.

Primaeval 1.39 €2.0 layed tbp, 5 of the 7 rated within 5lbs of each other, the price is looney short for this one to be placed.

4.20 Doncaster Sir Graham Wade 3.05 €2.0 layed to win

Smelly 10f maiden, the relatively short priced Sir Graham Wade is expected to build on his class 4 2nd lto, this is a class 5 so easier in theory but in maiden land one never knows

Both unplaced, William Haigh never featured

1.35 Doncaster Arizona John 6.4 €2.00 layed to win

Down to a mark of 66 which is quite a drop from the low 80s this time last year, lto was too long a trip and dropped another 2lbs, some folk would take encouragement from the run though and Arizona John seems to have plenty of supporters in the market. I rarely fancy yokes dropping in the HC unless conditions seem perfect for them and an amateur riders race doesn't fit that description for many usually

2.10 Doncaster Born To Surprise 1.46 €10.00 layed tbp

Debut was nothing fantastic, a few highly thought of yokes in opposition today, looks very skimpy pricewise.

2.20 Ascot Daymar Bay 3.25 €4.00 layed to win
19f may or may not suit, I'm not entirely sure the mark of 115 is justified either.

3.55 Doncaster Side Glance 1.94 €5.00 layed to win

115 rated so half a stone better than the nearest rival but I'm not sure that Side Glance should be rated that. Was well beaten last year when making the seasonal debut, finishing 3rd, the two who finished ahead didn't go on to do anything great since.

No doubt should be well primed for this but Side Glance may well be one that needs a run, he has finished within 3l of Dick Turpin which isn't too exceptional really.

Won in August by a neck in a race much better than this but I think the price is too short as I think he might well need this run to blow off the cobwebs.

4.40 Don King Of Wands 2.2 €8.00
not too far ahead on ratings but looks to be between this one and the 2nd fav on the figures, trip ideal for this one and won't be tiring near the line either as further is within range too. Anything over evens would be tempting.

HC and 10f debut, doesn't look a solid proposition at the price.
