Agreed. He was the complete professional but not a complete player. Would always take the likes of Carter or Larkham ahead of him. He knew his strengths and played to them. Very good kicker (generally, not always), immense tackler and cool as ice. He benefited from a fantastic pack in front of him that laid the ground work. He couldn't get a back line moving really and relied on the likes of Robinson and Greenwood to conjure things further out the line. When that wasn't happening, Mike Catt was brought in which happened regularly. In the 45 caps of so Wilko got at 10 between his debut and the WC final, Catt was capped at centre in about 30 of them; his role is often overlooked in Wilkinson's glory days.

I'd seriously doubt if you were at it either

And was also at the 1991 1/4 final in Lansdowne Rd (Aviva to you) when another flanker scored what should have been a match winning try with minutes remaining. Gordon Hamilton was his name, a mighty player from Ulster. wonder if that qualifies him as a "legend"

I despise the term "bandwagon jumpers", do we want to grow the game and increase it's popularity or what?

It's this sort of snobbery/pretentiousnes, is what turned some people off rugby and was a stigma attatched to it in the past, and it's not exactly something we should be perpetuating. This sort of "branding" attatched to new fans doesn't reflect well on the sport.

How the hell would you have any clue what I refer to the national stadium as?

I'm not exactly in the buisness of braggin about what games I've allegedly been to to try and gain some sort of credibility on an anonymous forum either

Simple fact is that Alan Quinlan was a hell of a player, for both club and country. The very fact that you can't see that when every one else can shows that if you the purist you think you are, you haven't a bulls notion about the game

here here.

Managed to get the girlfriend mad into the rugby after about a year of trying. Now she watches every game and has been to a few Munster games with me.

Obviously you'll have one or two idiots calling people who discover the game bandwagoners. Funny thing is a lot of these "fans" haven't a clue about the game themselves
