I haven't given them enough information They have told me because my payslips are written that they are no good even though they are stamped (they tried to tell me they weren't stamped until I told them I have the photocopies here as proof) and signed by employer. They have sent on a form to be filled in by employer with my total gross, tax, prsi, usc ect since January. I did already include last years p60 with my application so I can't understand why they would need these, they just said that they did. I haven't claimed for travel expenses to work because it only takes 5 minutes to drive there and they actually want a letter from someone (don't know who) to say that I live that close. I asked them would I get the bloody Mayor to write it out for me It's bordering on farcical now.

The reason I'm so annoyed now is because last year we fought for 13 weeks to get a medical card for my Father in Law who had just been diagnosed with cancer. He died 3 weeks after getting the card When I think of the amount of time my husband and I spent on the phone trying to get it sorted and everyone had a different reason for you The worry and stress in caused my Mother in law was heartbreaking. There was even 1 night where she called us instead of calling the doctor because she didn't have the money to pay him and had my Father in Law breathing into a brown bag trying to catch his breath. There used to be a time in this country where people would go out of their way to help someone in need. Now you're just a statistic.

The other thing that riled me right up about it all is they sent the form to be filled in first. Then 3 days later they send another letter saying the application is incomplete and has been put on hold and another A4 page with that with the claim number on it as big and bold as can be. Now I'm no einstein but surely they should not be wasting money like that on stamps, paper, envelopes and ink. It maybe only a little thing but if they are doing it with thousands of applications in becomes a big thing.

I also suggest that if the "4th floor" where the applications are actually processed is where things go missing then maybe these incompetent employees should be moved to the basement where there is 1 door and no windows so if they misplace something chances are, if they actually bother to look, it hasn't gone too far.

:mad:This crap is happening to a lot of people all over the country. There seems to be a black hole in there somewhere and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, nor can it check

The staff in the public sector can say they're overworked, I for one don't believe them, and even if they are, they're are ill people suffering unnecessarily due to their laziness and incompetency. They need to wake up and open their eyes. Their mentality of doing minimal work and winging for extra money has to stop. Justifying their salaries might be easier for them to do, if they carried out the work in a efficient manner or show they have the necessary skills to do something successfully.

Nepotism has ruined this country, we don't have the best people in these positions, only those that got the job because they knew the right person/related.

Ok. We all know that there a lazy staff within the public service. But please can a moderator ensure that not all staff within the PS are personally insulted by individuals on this forum.

Anyone would think that this thread was being pushed by the anti public sector irish independent.

I'll say it again.

When everyone else was off in times of prosperity being greedy and making mega bucks civil servant clerks took a job because of security and not for the money.

Now that the same foolish people who wouldn't have gotten out of bed for the money these clerks were earning in the good times want them all sacked etc.

I agree that there are wasters in the PS. But at least acknowledge that there a lot of good people as well.

Sounds to me like some of the public sector have sour grapes. Nobody out a gun to their head to force them to work there. This argument is nonsensical......because other people earned more than them, some are entitled to be inefficient, with backlogs etc. Maybe if some focussed more on their own job and stop looking at what everone else is doing with envy, we wouldn't have this backlog

Same foolish people...??? WTF? You don't like when people generalise about the public sector, but you have no problem doing the same about the private sector...In the private sector, however, there are consequences for not doing your job properly,,,Can you say the same about the public sector?

Now I have to get back to doing nothing here at work because some people earned more than me 5 years ago

Hello there Mr. Mc Sharry , is this forum subversive
to the public sector?

We posted ours in July, got an instant call to say they got it and from there on are stalling ever since. We ring them once or twice a week, some lie and say they haven't got the paper work and others say it's there but hasn't been processed yet!!

We need one as our daughter isn't well and just this week she's going to need another prescription and €50 down the drain and I've had no money at all this month due to mounting bills.

I'd actually rather save my pennies and take the b*stardz to court. This country is as crooked as any other and I hope the day comes where I get an opportunity to leave!

Write email to the Taoiseach, Jona Burtons department (Social protection), initiate the complaints procedure, local Councillor's etc. Escalate your complaint outside the office you're dealing with

This gets them moving on it sometimes (provided they haven't lost your application), pointless in complaining to the office themselves.

Keep on their case

I know you shouldn't have to chase them to do their job, but unfortunately, you do

Sorry if I care about sick children, waiting for 9 months to get a medical card processed. Do you not think her parents have enough stress to deal with already, without the stress of worrying about the money to pay for her care, piled on top of getting conflicting information from the medical card office regarding the status of their application?

Don't ya be getting all high and mighty and trying this guilt trip **** on me.I'm talking about all your previous posts were you've continually that sarcastic eye rolling symbol.

You've no particular interest in that posters child more than anybody else and to imply that anyone would have anything other than sympathy for him/her is just being insulting.

I'm a parent myself and I know exactly what its like to have the worry of a very ill child with a chronic illness as well as the stress of money problems.

At this stage this thread has been done to death and nobody has really gained anything constructive from it.

You opened the thread ,contributed all through it ,biased against the Med Card System/HSE staff every step of the way,so why don't you do something constructive instead of rolling out facts and statistics. Contact the offices in Finglas or maybe the Health Minister and come back to this thread without giving your usual sarcastic answer.

yes i do have an interest about the reality of the situtation for many people. enough to start a thread and hiight the issue.you quoted a specific post, about who to complain too. the pen pushers in the office might only care about their wages, but their actions have wider reaching consequences, for society.

they need to get down off the cross, and look outside the box

cso have recently released thr comparison of public- private wages for 2011. should make for some intrtesting reading
