Played a lot, overall would be probably Sonic, possibly Mario World 2 on the GB though, played a lot of Golden Axe and Streets of Rage too. There was an incarnate of a Fifa game too that I got a lot of time out of, think it may have just been internationals though. There was a Formula one game that my dad played loads as did I, not sure if the golf game obsession started with the PS1 or if there was one for the SEGA that we played...

How did I forget about this?! Hours and hours of time spent flying about in wee cars and boats in back-yards and ponds!

Of my early childhood, Kung Fu Master on a friend's ZX Spectrum. On my own first console, I'd say Road Rash (Megadrive). The sheer lawlessness of it was breath taking to a 14 year old!

Mario Kart or Super Mario World until I had a seizure, damned flashing lights, grew out of it eventually but that curtailed my gaming sessions for a couple of years

C&C/Diablo/Total Annihilation, those would be what I consider as my early favorites, about the time I really got in to games even though I did play for years before that.

mario all stars on the snes, and donkey kong land on the game boy. i remember being too "sick" to go to primary school a little often even thinking about me in my pyjamas playing those snow levels in mario brothers 1 fills me with nostalgia when all the other suckers were in school!

donkey kong land nearly made me go insane, i played it on xmas for about 16 hours and that night when i went to bed all i could see was donkey kong when i closed my eyes, and all i could here was the catchy songs. my dad was gonna bring me to the hospital lol. my brother had 6 golden coins on his one, we both got a gameboy that christmas

Never really had a favourite, mostly because every week I bought one or more games for my C64 and I still now have hundreds per each computer in the attic (as well as my C64, Spectrum, Amiga500 and NES, all still working).

The ones I *do* fondly remember playing repeatedly and loving were:

The Colditz Story - Spectrum - Reminded me of "The Great Escape" on C64, except it was simpler, had some nice mini-games, even blood! Used to play this a hell of a lot - Only part that used to trump my young mind was when guards would ask you a question in German while you're trying to sneak around, and responding in an inappropriate manner (Multiple choice of english answers) meant you got caught... Other than that, loved it.

Quik Snax - C64 - Dizzy the Egg Spinoff. It was tough and addictive as hell...

Impossible Mission II - C64 - Another visitor... Stay a while! Stay FOREVER! Played it to death, without ever really knowing what the f*ck I was doing...

Renegade - Spectrum - It was a beat'em up, so it was cool... It was also cool because you could knee people in the nadgers! Stuff like that was uncommon for a 7yr old to witness in gaming. I will forever remember throwing thugs onto railway tracks, or being rammed by a giant butch woman boss or whipped by her 6 female cronies.

IK+ - C64 - Without a doubt one of the most played games I've ever owned... The headbutt from that game alone made me wince everytime I landed it... Yeah, sometimes it's the little things that stick in mind.

Kane - C64 - Shooting birds to use as tribute to an indian tribe, followed by annoying "Horseride with killer rocks & bushes", followed by my favourite thing ever, a big shootout in a western town - It used graphics similar to Impossible Mission II and had a sound-byte for the scream your character or enemies make when killed.... "AGH!" - I played this game OH SO MUCH!

Ultimately I could list games all day that I spent extensive periods of my childhood playing, though I couldn't really pick a favourite, they're all more or less equally memorable beit for small or huge reasons... By the time I got my NES & Amiga 500 or PSX they don't allow for 'childhood memories' considering there was so much time before them that I had already played at least 1000 games on C64/Spectrum and was verging on my teens.

I love and hate threads like this because I can never just give one single answer
