Oscar Nominations

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II has been nominated for 3 Oscars:

Art Direction
Visual Effects
Make-up

Disappointed that it wasn't nominated for one of the better awards. Since it was the last movie in such a prolific series, I thought it might have got a few more nods. Alan Rickman deserved a nomination for Best Actor IMO.

TBH, I've found that the Oscars are becoming more and more about art-house films. The last "big" film to win was Lord of the Rings, and that was simply because there would have been a huge furore if it didn't. The Potter films are regarded wrongly simply as children's or blockbuster films at times, when in reality there is serious Oscar material in story alone, never mind actors etc. It is, to use a Dunphyism, a shambles, that none of the films have been even nominated for best picture.

Never realised that none of the films have ever won any Oscars, only nominations in things like Art Direction, and Visual Effects that nobody really cares about.

Snape would have had a better chance as a supporting actor nomination.

When you have a look at the talent in the cast it's pretty shocking that there hasn't been any main category nominations.
