Nice one.

The organisation has taken a more 'professional' turn, I can promise the mistakes of last year will not be repeated,

With that said there was a huge amount of positive feedback from last year so we will build on that. I can't wait and it's only January

We have decided on the bank holiday weekend in August but we want to confirm that we can acquire hotels within our budget as we are trying to keep costs to a minimum.

Where are the locations each night? Is it Dublin city and Sligo?

Day 1 will be Limerick to Dublin. We are staying on the outskirts of Dublin rather than the city centre for a few reasons.
Day two will be from Dublin to Sligo. Available accommodation within our budget constraints means that Sligo might be a non-runner but we are looking to finish up in that general area. beyond Sligo might be too much of a trek for a single day from Dublin.

Gary is currently looking into this so I'm hopeful of having proper answers before weeks end.

is this something along the lines of what ye are thinking?

http://g.co/maps/uh465

Day 1-Limerick-Dublin
Day 2-Dublin-Sligo
Day 3-Sligo-Limerick (takes in N59 in full, one of the "Worlds Best Roads" according to Top Gear, eat your heart out Davos to Stelvio pass!)

I'd be up for that.

Are scaldy cars allowed? (Diesel Golf, ughh, hate even typing it)

Thats the general route we'll be taking although we will probably go a bit more north on Day 2.

Any car that has a valid NCT, Tax and Insurance, and is deemed roadworthy is eligible to take part.

Would there be any problem if I just stayed in my house that night? It'd save me a few quid since I'd be most likely to stay down in Limerick the night before the start of it

Thats a question we didn't foresee. I'll have a chat with the others and see what the agreement is. My guess is that we will want people to stay together because what we want to improve on this year is the bonding of the group.

EDIT: I re-read that and bonding sounds like its a hippie outing but I think you know what I mean.

I'm guessing the deposit to take part will include the stay in the hotel anyway and chopping and changing the deposit for different people could lead to big issues if different people started paying different amounts?

I have to agree, also if a few people wanted it this it would lead to a terrible night, being separated in donegal last year was brutal
