Pregnant during career break- maternity benefits?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what happens if a teacher falls pregnant during career break, in terms of maternity leave and benefits.

Any info at all would be much appreciated.

I would presume bee_l that you'd be entitled to stutory maternity benefit as paid by the department of social welfare.

While on career break you are not working for the department of education so would not receive income from the department should you be on career break.

There is no statutory maternity benefit.
If you meet the prsi requirements then you will get it.

As a employed teacher having made PRSI contributions she would be entitled to maternity benefit -
