Charity website and hosting

Hi all,

I'm a .Net developer and I have decided to help out a charity who are running a fund-raiser event.

I'm looking to set up a .ie domain and will need windows hosting for .net and a MS SQL 2005/2008 Database. I'm expecting traffic to the site will be average. Disk space needed would also be average as well.

For the event they are looking for participants to register on-line for 5 Euro. I have worked on many websites in the past but none which involved E-commerce so this is a new challenge for me.

I think a few hosting companies waive the .ie domain fee but would anyone know anyone who might waive the hosting fees also?

Kind Regards,

Kevin.

Did you ask any of them?
As for donations, IIRC paypal don't charge on them (I'm open to correction though)

Remember that PayPal includes "Donations" to the likes of shareware developers, etc.

So they may have different options for actual charities?

I didn't contact any of them. I know Blacknight might have a representative here so I was hoping he/she might reply but I might contact them tomorrow if no activity here from a hosting company.

I contacted PayPal and for charities they charge 1.4% and 20 cent for money received.

(kbannon, Liam Byrne) Thanks for your help so far. Much appreciated.

For hosting youll probably find most of the hosting providers (blacknight, hosting365 and digiweb) will probably provide free hosting (providing you but a little hosting provided by banner somewhere)

id say you will need to purchase the domain name but they're only about 19 euro plus vat. You will also need the registration certificate of the charity in order to get the domain.

even to pay for it though windows shared hosting is only about €40 a year:

http://www.blacknight.com/shared-hos...mise_option=no

From as little as €2.50 a month:
