hmm, I read today that the actual studio making this is Bioware Victory, an offshoot studio and not the main team of Bioware. Also read that Victory are the crowd behind C&C4, so that's not the best news going ...

Seems also that the eagle-eyed among us spotted an EU emblem on the tanks in that trailer, so it looks like for once we might see a game without the US saving the world...
Edit; haha, posted this without seeing the very last reply before mine. So yeah, g'wan the EU. We can't agree a financial plan, but damnit we can go to war with style

Generals Zero HourSpoiler:
At the end of ZH, the US was practically in retreat and had evacuated Europe to defend its own border. China became the world superpower that saved Europe from the tyranny of the GLA. The US faded into the shadows.

Well here's hoping for a return to the glory days of C&C.

official website features blurb:

Quote:
In the near future, world leaders are mere seconds from signing a global treaty and bringing an end to war as we know it when a devastating terrorist attack rips through the peace conference, killing all in attendance. In a world left with no politicians, diplomats, or activists, only the Generals remain. It’s up to you to assume their roles, command of their forces, and put an end to global terrorism once and for all.
meh outline, baddie terrorists once again was hoping they'd come up with a better excuse.

Quote:
All-out War – Take control of three unique factions, competing for resources, building up your base of operation, and leading massive batteries of tanks, soldiers, and aircraft into battle.
base building confirmed, 3 factions confirmed, resources confirmed.

Now that I think about it I hated the resources in generals but in red alert 3 which was very similar I really liked it. I guess I found it much more difficult to harass resources in generals then in red alert 3 without the economy billowing out of control like in c&c3. It also confirms we will not see the return of C&C4 mechanics. Which I am partially saddened by. C&C4 had a flawed system but give them over a year to hammer away at it based on what they learned from the previous game and they could have had something good on their hands.

Quote:
Uncanny Sense of Realism – Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.
I think this is word for word the BF3 blurb on frostbite 2.

Quote:
New Ways to Dominate or Ally with your Friends – Go beyond classic deathmatch with a selection of new multiplayer game modes, designed with both cooperative and competitive play in mind.
co-op mode hinted and multiplayer variety.

Quote:
Thrilling Campaign – Command the war on terror in an electrifying single-player campaign. Experience the dramatic story from multiple perspectives—from heroic General to crazed terrorist—while engaging the enemy in pulse-pounding tactical combat.
blah

Quote:
Ever-evolving Experience – Enhance your game with an expanding array of downloadable content. From maps and units to factions, campaigns, and more, the fight against terrorism is deeper than ever.
So expect a COD like leveling system, possibly general perks and stupid DLC packs

Very bland introduction bit.

edit:

Oh and still image of the last screen of the trailer. look over it for secrets

I tell you now, the obvious one is I see a bulldozer, so they may be keeping classic generals building mechanics?

Aye. This sucked, but at the same time it ensured people couldn't build just about anywhere: the bulldozer had to be able to get there.

If CCG2 doesn't have a faction(GLA) that says 'I'll work for shoes' I will play the game on mute, forever. Silent protest.

If the EU aren't fighting to secure Bail out fundings it may be to far fetched to even bother playing with them let alone playing Single Player missions (single plare RTS, why not just call it what it is? tutorial)

I just hope it's as fast as Generals, ZH made it to complex to balance out the game I foumd. Stuck to vinilla myself.

If they put in too much upgrades and sidegrades, and what-not-grade it will be ruined in my opinion. Becomes more like WOW. Generals was great for quick teching and 10-20minutes online games.

http://ie.ign.com/videos/2012/08/15/...reveal-trailer

Bizarre move tbh, though as free games go, it's a good looking one. I hope the free-to-play model EA follow is the TF2 one: where the default, free units and buildings are perfectly good & you're not forced to purchase stuff to compete. Of course it being EA they probably won't follow this move.

to be fair the generals single player as I already stated was pretty bland and uninteresting so no major loss there...
