A few points on last night's madness.
1. To those United fans who reported some of the posts after the match, GROW UP! It's muppets like yourselves who give proper Reds a bad name. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal fans, whoever, are all perfectly entitled to dish it out after a result like that. It's what makes rivalry the great bit of craic that it is. Clearly, in a literal sense, Liverpool fans are in no position to slag United fans off, given they are not even in Europe this season. But they are our biggest rivals FFS! What else are they going to do? How many laugh out loud moments have they given us over the years? It's swings and roundabouts. I can't even believe that I have to point this out to people. 2. I'm genuinely glad that United are now out of the Champions League. I'm not trying to be smart after the event but it takes away the sense of entitlement that surrounds certain United fans (see above) and if it gets rid of a few of the clowns along the way then all the better. 3. As far as the team itself goes, United are not in as bad a shape as some would have us believe. There are certain players who are clearly not at the level required to get United to the top in Europe. However, any squad that can call on Rooney, Hernandez, Vidic, Jones, Smalling, the Da Silvas, Welbeck, Cleverley, De Gea is not in too bad a position. Two or three world class signings are clearly needed and if going out of the Champions League so early doesn't force the issue at OT then nothing will. In the meantime, heads up, chins out...and if you can't take a bit of slagging, go and follow Chelsea, as a wise man once said. |
