I felt baby yesterday when hubby was talking to my belly. Great feeling

Mother Care in Belgard Road in Tallaght has a lot of baby clothes on sale (Mainly for boys or girls but really cute )


Re nappies – my sis was using for 2 weeks reusable and she switched back to regular pampers. She said with 2 months old and 4 years old it is too much effort.

Kash, fair play to you for being so conscientious but I don't think I could handle reusable nappies either!
I'm only in my late 20's but isn't it strange to think that most of us probably started out in re-usables? I think I was a few months old when disposable nappies became readily available.

Also on the sleeping arrangements, when ye say co-sleeping do u mean that little thing that attaches to ur own bed or just having the baby in bed with u? Maybe it's just me but I think those attached bed type things don't look safe, I'd be afraid it would detach from the bed.

I'm going to get an overnight mattress for the carrycot on the pram and use that as a Moses basket in our room for the first few months. We don't really have room for much else. We've both decided we don't want baby permanently sleeping in our bed, but happy to have cuddles in the mornings and stuff like that. God that makes me sound so cold, but I just don't want it to be a big ordeal if we go out for a while and baby won't settle for babysitter. Just seen some friends having this problem recently and I felt for the over-tired baby the next day.

It went fine. I probably had worked myself up into a state but no harm getting things checked. All my heart stuff was normal at the apt but he said no harm in referring me back to my cardiologist to double check & then he can refer me to the cardio in Rotunda if need be.

Then I asked him if he has a doppler, ie; can we listen to baby's heart. He's sort of a locum for that clinic so he wasn't sure where it was & was saying that normally they use the doppler for later apts. My hubby was sitting there thinking "crap she's going to have a meltdown". I felt sorry for dragging hubby there as he'd only had 3hrs sleep night before and we'd been sitting there an hour waiting.

Anyway doc found a doppler, warned me that it's possible he might not be able to get it on the doppler cos of positioning etc. But he got it straight away, lovely strong heartbeat of approx 148 bpm. I said to him "are you sure that's not just my heartbeat?" and he laughed saying if that was mine he'd be sending me to A&E!

So anyway I was delighted, so reassured. I don't know, just felt more real again!

I'd feel the same as you, get baby used to sleeping in own bed but beside us and then can take them in for feeds or cuddles in the morning. However... I say that now but I could also throw all that out the window in desparation for a few hrs kip when the time comes!

To be honest I'm really nervous about having baby sleep in bed with us, we are both very heavy sleepers. I'm really going to try and have the baby sleep separate as much as possible.

you'd be surprised how alert you can actually be when asleep, no matter how heavy of a sleeper you are you will wake at every whimper and if baby is in the bed with you, you wont get much of a sleep, you'll never relax enough incase you think you will roll over baby.

My friend has offered to give me this thing that you put under the baby's sheet in the cot/Moses basket. It found an alarm if baby stops breathing.... It doesn't bear thinking about, she got it cos her daughter had reflux problems or something. (she's a qualified midwife) I'm not sure I want it though, but my brother died of cot death 32 yrs ago, so I guess there is always a worry...

Silly I have that,it's the angelcare monitor and it's fantastic,doing up the boys room at the mo.dont want them to feel left out with all this girl talk so need to do something for them

I was thinking about the angelcare, but a friend who had a real sickly baby said she found it more of a nuisance.
They wld be trying to change baby without waking her but forget to disconnect the mat first and it wld go
Off, ultimately waking the baby!
I suppose it's each to their own and if it gives u the peace of mind and comfort to rest easier, then it's worth it.

Think my little lady has moved up finally!!
Pressure on my bladder is gone and I feel less kicks but higher up so she must have more room- but with this brings back pain lol!!

My very lovely sister in law was due yesterday and is getting pains atm!! She might be dropping her kids to me later..Exciting..!!! Gonna steal all that baby smell mwahaha

I had my specialist appt today and it did not go well at all... the doc was lovely (actually the nicest doc I've ever come across aside from my GP) and he did his best to reassure me etc but reality is my thyroid is causing a lot of problems. I have to go back in 2 weeks to him and hosp in 4 weeks not 8 weeks and possibly GP every week... my pulse is sky high and i have massive tremors in my hands and legs.

He basically said I'm having a high risk pregnancy and I need to be monitered very closely over the next 10 weeks especially. And baby will have to be monitered very closely in the first three days aswell.

At the same time he told me not to worry too much As if!

Anyway I know its good that they are keeping an eye etc but god I wish it was just a tiny little bit easier

Aw Cyning, you poor crater. So sorry you didn't hear what you wanted to today.
Hopefully all the close monitoring will pre-empt anything that might happen. It's easy for them to say relax, but they would be finding it very hard if they were in your shoes.

Have a nice bath this evening, pamper yourself and maybe it'll help you chill out a bit.

We were looking at the BumGenius things, they seem like a fairly good compromise. I'm not too worried about the washing/rinsing, but hey, I could change my mind after a week We'[ll definitely use disposeable when we are travelling/visiting.

I mean the co-sleeper cot that connects to the bed itself, I'm a light sleeper and don't think I would squash the baby, but think I would sleep better with a little extra space - and of course, it might help with them not getting too used to sleeping with us.

They always say not to worry after giving you news to make you worry!!
But I'm so glad that they are keeping a close eye on you and your baby - hopefully, this will be as bad as it gets, and I'm sure all the hardship will be worth it in July. Hugs xx

I myself had a pain in my belly and couldn`t sleep sunday night so ended up going into hospital and was kept in til this morning. It wasn`t anything to do with Baby thank god and they kept checking fetal heartbeat every 3-4 hours.. I think I`m just so stressed out lately and tying myself up in knots and was told to take it very easy.. So on being discharged this morning went straight to work, I`m trying my best to interview people but it`s a long process, it took me 7 weeks to find one fella thats right for the job and may take a while to get a second person. One girl was actually pregnant herself and could only do 1/2 days
Cyning I dunno how you didn`t go mad in hospital, there`s only so much fashion magazines I can take...

Cyning - you poor thing, you must be at your wits end - I know it must be so hard but try to stay positive, it's good they will be monitoring you so closely and making sure you and babs are doing well.. take care of yourself....

javagal - hope all goes well with your sister in law, enjoy your babysitting - it will be lovely for your little girl to have a cousin so close in age..

For all the 'One born every minute' fans the American version is starting tonight!!!! Is it very very sad that I am this excited
