None of the good rugby playing schools in Limerick are fee paying- age old story of rugby been a working mans game in limerick compared to a gentlemans game in Leinster.
in fairness to produce 3 of the starting backline , and one sub is fairly impressive from a small school - not sure if they do scholarships based on rugby - but the coaching setup is incredibly professional

I'd played club and school rugby in Limerick so my opinion may be a bit askew for not being able to see the woods for the trees- but school rubgy was taken very seriously amongst the city teams. Rivalry was as intense as with playing a local club derby. Also being teenage boys, we thought if we won against another city team we would get all the hot girls so it was a definate fight to the death match!

Its funny though-the guys that were scouted from school, I would think of as Ard Scoil/Young Munster players but guys who werent making shapes til their mid twenties, I would always just associate them with their club and province- thats probably just me though

Oh fair enough then...I didn't go to school in the city but there were people in my school who have got on Munster panels and I know people who went to Ard Scoil/Comp/Castletroy...and while they take it seriously, they always seemed more passionate about Young Munster/Shannon/Garryowen/Old Crescent.

No you are prob right in general- club starts at home playing for clubs brothers father and grandfathers have played for where as school was great to get cred in school for and defo better for getting the women as far more women were interested in school rugby than club....when your 17 this features very strongly in how serious you would take school matches ; )
