A friendly place for folks who enjoy reading and socialising in Cork.

Anyone who's interested in joining an informal group of readers for a banter about books then show your faces here or on the Facebook group "Cork Readers".

I will be mailing interested parties in due course with details of where/when. This will be a city centre location, on a week-night when places are generally quieter and more condusive to conversation.

PM to some mod to make that thread sticky instead of the cork book club one. Maybe add book club to title somehow as well.
When writing to mod, refer to the last few pages of original cork book club thread where the decision to start new "clean" page was made.

I would certainly join in anytime when i have evening off, will PM with details.

How about deciding the main book for first meeting that we all should read, to get the discussion started?

Could not find the facebook page for "Cork Readers", is it up yet?

Initial discussion of what we're currently reading / last read / which genres we like reading would certainly be useful - but I think we'd need a discussion to choose a first group read - anyone is welcome to put forward suggestions - to open the topic.

The Group is showing as active - but they've been fiddling with things [again] over there - click on the 'GROUPS' link, then do a search for Cork Readers.

Hiya there everyone,

I've booked our first meeting place for 8pm on Wednesday 12th October 2011.

Get in touch to let me know if you're attending or not. I will forward my mobile number and venue details.

I will leave a copy of John Connolly's "The Black Angel" on the table so you will spot me.

This will be an informal gathering so we can get to know who's who and start a discussion about how we wish to progress and what we want to set as the first reading material.

Did u write to any of the mods explaining them why they should make that thread "sticky" instead of original coek book club thread? Otherwise it keeps getting lost in all the threads and people still go to cork book club thread that is dead...
