You say you have worked with autistic people have a sister who is autistic yet you can't see in the character of the Driver anything which may suggest that he is somewhat autistic? |

I've always held Bryan Cranston in high regard, ever since that scene in Malcolm in the middle, where hes doing trials/tests to get into the CIA and he's being held upside down blindfolded, trying to solve a rubix cube getting fire crackers thrown by his head and exploding, and his reactions just had me in stitches laughing..
He's what made watching that show fun for me, always hoped he would break on through, and he has thank fook

Didn't take long, mind, and he finally got to flex his serious acting skills with his own platform. He finds it a great honour that people can't believe Walter White and Hal are the same actor. |

I was really looking forward to this film as it was a remake of one of my favourites from the 70's -The Driver with Ryan O'Neal and directed by the great Walter Hill. Have to say I was very disappointed - Gosling was even blander than O'Neal (which was some achievement) but O'Neal got away with it in a less is more kind of way , but Gosling was just less is less.
And the violence was way over the top and just reduced the characters to little more than physcos. Big disappointment, I will be going again next week so I may change my mind but I doubt it. Still worth the price of admission though , but not the little gem the original turned out to be., |

Well then you're wrong. while there are some similarities Drive is based on a novel and not the Walter Hill film. To call it a remake of The Driver would be the same as to say that The Town is a remake of Heat.

it isnt really a matter of opinion though, its just technically not a remake of that film. now there is an argument to be made that the film version could have been somewhat inspired by the driver, but to be honest it has more in common with le samourai, which the driver itself was inspired by

listen, a remake is what happens when they consciously sit down and decide to remake something. if a film is somewhat similar to an earlier one by accident that is not a remake Last edited by indough; 08-10-2011 at 21:27. |
