help with a REALLY simple DIY guitar amp.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but figured you guys might be best able to help me.

I can solder but know basically nothing about electronics. Inspired by an Irish robotics club workshop I saw at electric picnic I want to build a really simple guitar amp powered by a 12v batter that I can retro fit to an old electric guitar.

I have an 8ohm speaker, a 1/4" jack input, a 12v battery clip, a couple of potentiometers (5k and 10k i think), a load of capacitors & resistors and a soldering iron and to be honest I have no idea what to do with it all

Anyone point me in the right direction? The simple the better.

Don't know much about amps but until someone else weighs in you might find some ideas here:

There's some simple circuits and other ideas. Might have a looks at the 'Where to start' thread as well, a few links in there for useful stuff.

The amp I built at Electric picnic workshop was built around plans here. http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Build_Yo...itar_Amplifier

Sounds really good.
