Because only 3 people have visited my page since I set it up and I didn't mention it anywhere, maybe I should.

+1. I hope this happens. It's time this country took fathers seriously.

?
I think the group is a good idea, I think you need to publicise it more.
Put in in your sigs for people to find it and ask for it to be put in the resource thread in the parenting forum.
I would be worried that it will go down the line of mother/women bashing, that won't help the cause when it comes to growing grassroots support.

I think it is a pretty big socail issue and it's going to get bigger and fathers do need support and information when they find themselves in this situation.

Code to put the link in a sig like mine

I have issues regarding access to my kids and it is ripping my heart out. 6 year old and 2 year old daughters and a 5 year old son.
Was with their mother for over 9 years and broke up about 4 or 5 months ago. I'm named on all 3 kids birth certs, yet my time with them is spent entirely at her whim. A couple of hours here and there....and usually only at short notice. For 2 straight weeks she wouldn't let me say goodnight even over the phone.

In favour +1. Hope to be a father one day, not so big on marriage. Be good to have a resource available like this.

+1 from me.
It's so unfair how things work out for some dads and I think a lot of people don't even realise that they have no rights until it's too late

My opinions on this are mixed.

There is a huge difference in Ireland between having never being a married to your childs mother and having being married and now separated/widowed.

Unmarried fathers having no legal rights to their kids is an issue that I feel very strongly about but I don't think it warrants its own forum or sub forum unless the forum.

A Single/separated/parenting alone forum could be a suggestion but I think the general parenting thread is sufficent until we see enough posts warranting it.
