Lights Out was mentioned already

Not a well known show but well worth trying
Just one series, it was clear early one it wouldn't be renewed

It gets better as it goes on, give it a try. To do with boxing

And for a realy old one, Murder One
If you like legal dramas, it's the best around
Well over a decade old at this stage

Jericho too, bit of a strange one but it works

IMO The Good Wife is a far superior legal drama if that's what you are looking for

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a great comedy. Very original and at 22 mins an episode it's very easy to watch.

After a slow start the US comedy Community gets excellent. Chevy Chase plays an absolutely hilarious character.

Closer to home the new Alan Partridge vehicle (Mid Morning Matters) was great too.

I really recommend Breaking Bad. The best series I've seen in a long, long time. It's in it's fourth (and final?) series now, and I've found it completely engrossing. Top class acting, particularly from Bryan Cranston (Hal in Malcolm in the Middle! He was always great, but seeing him in such a dramatic role is really a revelation), and I was also impressed with Giancarlo Esposito (if you've seen The Usual Suspects, he's the black cop who interviews the only survivor of the explosion on the boat). The writing is brilliant too - the characters have so much depth and are changing and developing all the time, and there are just some brilliant twists and turns in the plot. Season 3 is one of the best seasons I've ever seen in any show. It's up there with The Sopranos for me as a show that really drew me in.

Thanks for suggestions

I have seen Arrested Development which I enjoyed
Might try Breaking bad again didn't really enjoy it but only watched first couple of episodes.
Is Strike back the show that is on Sky one saw one episode liked it but seem to miss it each week.
Currently watching Sons of Anarchy and really enjoying it.

I have seen the Wire and also Underbelly which is excellent (2nd season only ok)

The Unit reminded me of the A team a bit (lots of shooting but very little blood) and the wifes annoy me

Don't really like the good wife.

I know you said "Don't really like Sci Fi or political dramas" however two of the best TV shows ever made could fall into those categories:

Firefly - yes you could call it sci fi but it's not really - action, comedy, characters, relationships it has it all. And only like 10 eps or something.

The West Wing - on the surface it would seem a political drama but really it's not. Simply one of the best TV shows ever made and anyone i know who has given it a go has loved it and watched all 7 seasons. A real gem - don't let the fact that it's set in the West Wing discourage you. Really this show is awesome and has everything you'd want.

Good series to get into!

Just wondering what series people are watching/have watched. Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. There's nothing worse then coming to the end of a series/boxset.

I myself have watched:
Brothers and Sisters - loved it but towards the end it went abit down-hill.
Prison Break - brilliant
Blue Bloods - again brilliant
24 - I watched most the first series and enjoyed it but ended up leaving it, might go back at some stage.
Mad Men - started off great but then when it hit series three I had enough.
The Good Wife - currently hooked on this, I literally can't sleep without watching an episode or two.

I'd like to get into The Wire at some stage. The likes of Criminal Minds just never really appealed to me.

What are peoples opinions?

There is a recommendations sticky thread at the top of the forum.
This question was also asked by someone last week (and there were lots of good suggestions in there), so I'm going to merge this thread with that one....
