Had yet another one of those moments today, saw a scruffy toyota starlet with two people in it overtaking multiple cars at probably 110-120km/h plus on a 100km/h section of road with a rather magnificently painted and maintained scania 143M truck (BIG, sold and would quickly make a starlet pancake) and large trailer coming against them at speed, after they've overtaken me dangerously, oh and they'd tailgated a few people quite severly, then me.

My cousin was in the car with me and i turned to him and said " did you see that? morons! they're going to cause an accident". Sure enough we got to a roundabout at the end of that section of road and they'd crashed into a VW polo in the middle of the roundabout.
It can be a bit scray the amount of idiots on the road at times.

I felt sorry for the woman with the polo but i wasn't the slightest bit surprised, the occupants of the starlet had been setting themselves up for disaster, thankfully it ended up being only a minor accident but still, it's nto the first time i've see it happen.

That's clearly the thing to do, but there are all manner of reasons why you mightn't stop, e.g. late for work, nowhere to pull in, not wanting to be seen taking a position against the Starlet* driver.

Not saying that these are good reasons, but could the OP offer his/her services post facto by calling Traffic Watch for example?

Unless he actually witnessed the collision it's only speculation that the starlet driver's previous antics had any bearing on this collision. It's a strong possibility but still only speculation.

The backroad between Ardee and Dundalk is full of rally wannabes, many a time i was overtaken by a moron in a BMW or Passat and slammin in front of me, christ help me id love to flog them

Ah... no, sadly your assumption was wrong. It was a late 90s shape, standard starlet, the same shape as the glanza V and glanza S, but it was a low spec model and probabiy 1.3 as the majority of those are.


I was not in a position to offer my sevices as a witness as i did not see the crash, only witnessed some bad driving a few minutes earlier, but it was clear that that starlet had driven into the polo and pushed into a weird position in the roundabout.
Had anyone been injured i would have called the local gardai and told them about having see that behaviour, but that would be unlikely to have any effect anyway.

In this case i couldn't have done much good, i'd only have been some cranky fella sayin "oh now, i saw them doing something bad earlier" but i've done it on two other occasions when i've actually witnessed the crash first hand.

Indeed, speculation but a VERY strong possibility, and if you'd seen the crash, it was obvious that the starlet drove into the polo. The behaviour of the drivers was very different also, the occupants of the starlet were looking away from the woman who'd got out of the polo, they'd turned their heads to the left facign away from the other car and had their windows up and doors closed, the woman from the polo looked very shaken and upset and was trying to speak to them, and looking at her car to survey the damage.

even though you didnt witness the crash you had some vital details on the circumstances leading up to the crash.

i woulda stopped and gave details tbh.
