Jo definitely wouldn't have left without a fight. She was always the dominant partner in the relationship and the Dermot that hates her so much is not the same Dermot that left little leaving presents for his foster children. In real life Dermot would have taken Jo back. Maybe that's what'll happen in a few months when maternity leave is over! Dying to find out what Lucy is up to, I just wish Wayne would open his eyes and stop thinkin with his trousers!

The next person who refers to David as 'flipper' or 'thunderbird' will get a yellow card. Repeat offenses will escalate to red cards and bans.

For the regulars of this thread - please report posts if you see these two demeaning terms (or any others) being used in relation to David / Mat Fraser.

Esther must be furious with David as she carefully hides the stolen/mislaid passport from view

Great acting from Mr. Fahy with Tommy and Ben. Realistic acting.

Why did Dervla tear up her results? I couldn't read them and she tore it up so fast I couldn't understand what was she was doing? What is anthropology or whatever she wants to study?

Yes. I was with someone who realised that they'd lost their passport while on a bus from Limerick to Dublin. He called his mother in Dublin who got everything ready and took it to the passport office and once he got to Dublin he ran to the passport office, verified everything and was given the passport.

I would have thought with him being a foster parent that he would have put the foster kids first aswell but the only person he has thought about in this situation is himself.
I think they've written it pretty well. Dermot's utterly trenchant stance has been shown to be due to his own insecurities about himself. It's an OTT response by Dermot but it's more believable than the "always-on-the-high-moral-ground" Jo suddenly deciding to launch herself into an affair.
Of course it then gives time for Dermot to gradually realise he over-reacted and over time he'll eventually allow Jo back which will probably co-incide with her return from maternity leave.

Dermot's reaction is OTT because it is soapworld.

Dermot's reaction isn't OTT at all. His wife repeatedly had sex with their friend and neighbour. An awful lot of people would never, ever forgive that. In fact a lot of people would not only not forgive her but would be a lot more angry and make sure everyone who spoke well of her knew the whole truth and know about who she slept with. There are people who would destroy her belongings and attempt to destroy her relationship with their child.

Jo could feasibly be going along with Dermot's wishes in the hope that by putting herself through anything he asks of her, she gives him the time and space he needs to consider forgiving her. Or she could be hoping that he won't cope without her and will come to the realisation that he wants her back. A risky move in some ways but not completely unrealistic, imo.

How could it be totally his house? They're married, she has just as much right to stay there as he does

It takes a special sort of person to be a foster carer and I don't think foster carers would act like that, they should understand the importance of some stability for the kids they are fostering, Dermot didn't even give it a chance to sink in to see how he felt, he just basically said get out!

It is not easy to forgive quickly. Jo is guilty of a huge betrayal of trust. It can't be forgotten after a few days. Dermot is only human. Anger can make people do things in the spur of the moment. It can cloud thoughts and make people react in abnormal ways. It is a soap. It has to be a little bit different to reality. Bizarre and odd and ott is normal in soaps. Soaps need loads of ott drama. They thrive on it. Emily's advice was not exactly encouraging him to keep up with his appeal.

I think that time is a great healer sometimes. It depends on how the individual feels though. Reactions vary.

Jo must know that the marriage is over. She is reading a bed-time story to Ben which has living apart as its central theme. The child is learning that people can break up and live separate lives. A real view of her own situation and a valuable lesson for Ben too.
