A man buys a lie detector robot that slaps people who lie. he decided to test it at dinner:
Dad: Son where were you today during school hours? Son: At school (robot slaps son) ...Son: Okay I went to the movies! Dad: Which one? Son: Harry Potter (robot slaps again!) Son: Okay I was watching porn. Dad: What? When I was your age I didn't even know what porn was! (robot slaps dad) Mom: Hahahahaha! after all he is your son!(robot slaps mom). |

we can not have it both ways, you can not encourage milsim and events like those put on my organiser like stirling, ta events and tier 1 and turn around and say it is not that 'military' , especially when airsoft is actually being used for training but police and military at this stage, can not shove our heads in the ground on this one Last edited by Puding; 20-08-2011 at 21:23. |

Im not saying to fall in line, we just have to acknowledge that it is a valid concern of people, and tbh i would put large sums of money on this view point far out numbering those with a positive angle on airsoft.
It is the chick and an egg thing and the same arguments also get dragged up with videos games in a way, personally im of the opinion that violent games and airsoft do not make 'unstable people' but they defiantly do attract them like moths to a flame, and tbh it is something as a community we should be aware of. We get defensive of airsoft, and we have a tendency to ignore some issues and apply the rose tinted glasses. At times we start to believe it all and that can be dangerous as we can get complacent. |

i would agree, unfortunately it is not easy just to dismiss it, the strongest defence again this is actually to actively show that we are a responsible community, this is far easy said than done of course

It is a very myopic view of airsoft.
To say it is preparing young people for combat is taking it a bit too far, because if it was true, the authorities here would ban it immediately and armed forces around the world would not have use very large, expensive training facilities to properly prepare their soldiers/marines/sailors and airmen for the real thing. |

Airsoft has the distinct advantage over RS in that if you get shot then you don't die, you respawn as the gamers would say.
I'm sure if any of you felt genuine fear of death in a game then you would use vastly different tactics. So, no, in general, Airsoft cannot really prepare you for real life military situations unless it's conducted as part of a *real* military training exercise (which would be a bit pointless given the range of Airsoft guns unless it was close quarters training). Just MHO.

I have to agree on the muscle memory thing. I fired a RS tavor a few months back, and the feel of the stanag mags and reloading while maintaining trigger disciple and firing just came naturally, despite never having fired a real assault rifle before. |

look tbh he's way off base the only tactics that work for airsoft is shoot first and ask questions later and the mussle memory is useless as theres massive differences between real steel and aeg's I know as Iam military besides if a youth whants to be militarised all they have to do is join RDF although I do agree to some aspects of this stupid rant
