2011/2012 Season Predictions

That time of year again

Fire away with your predictions, they can be altered anytime up to the eve of the Packers/Saints season opener. After that, they're locked in I'm afraid!

AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers
AFC South: Indianapolis Colts
AFC East: New England Patriots
AFC West: San Diego Chargers

NFC North: Green Bay Packers
NFC South: New Orleans Saints
NFC East: Dallas Cowboys
NFC West: St. Louis Rams

AFC Championship: New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts
NFC Championship: New Orleans Saints vs Green Bay Packers
Superbowl: New England Patriots vs New Orleans Saints
Superbowl Winner: New England Patriots

"Surprise" Team: Detroit Lions
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Team: Philadelphia Eagles
Worst Team: Washington Redskins

Off MVP: Tom Brady
Def MVP: DeMarcus Ware
Off Rookie MVP: Julio Jones
Def Rookie MVP: Von Miller
"Surprise" Player: Danario Alexander
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Player: Michael Vick

Audacious Prediction of the Season: A team will go 16-0.

Your Own Team
Regular season record: 13-3
Best rookie: Shane Vereen
Most looking forward to seeing: Fat Albert and Big Vince line up side by side.

AFC North: Baltimore Ravens
AFC South: Houston Texans, Wade Philips will sort the D and it'll all come together. I know the Texans flatter to deceive every year but this is the year I reckon
AFC East: New England Patriots
AFC West: Kansas City Chiefs, I love their offseason signings, it's up and up.

NFC North: Green Bay Packers
NFC South: New Orleans Saints, poor running game last year hurt but this should be improved this year
NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles
NFC West: St. Louis Rams

AFC Championship: New England Patriots vs Baltimore Ravens
NFC Championship: Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints, Eagles to come up short yet again
Superbowl: Baltimore Ravens vs New Orleans Saints
Superbowl Winner: Baltimore Ravens

"Surprise" Team: Detroit Lions, gonna get a wildcard slot. Though I don't think the Lions are a surprise team anymore
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Team: Chicago Bears, will miss the playoffs despite last years deep playoff run
Worst Team: Cincinnati Bengals and they need to start Bruce Gradowski sooner rather then later. So many problems and a lot of them due to their owner

Off MVP: Drew Brees, I'm need to think about this one and may edit before the deadline
Def MVP: Tamba Hali, beast of a player
Off Rookie MVP: Julio Jones
Def Rookie MVP: Patrick Peterson, top player and with DRC gone will be thrust into a lot of responsibility
"Surprise" Player: James Laurenitis, second round pick for Rams. Top MLB and heading for the probowl and team captaincy.
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Player: Mark Sanchez

Audacious Prediction of the Season: The return of the run game. Three or more players will top 1500 yds, not happened for last three seasons. Ok, not audacious but it's my predication

Your Own Team Baltimore Ravens
Regular season record: 13-3
Best rookie: Jimmy Smith CB
Most looking forward to seeing: New DC this year, secondary coach Chuck Pagano was promoted. A return to "organized chaos" and brutal, aggressive defense, it's what's Baltimore is known for
At least used to be known for

AFC North:Baltimore Ravens (Pittsburgh often struggle the year after making a superbowl)
AFC South:Colts, as always
AFC East: Pats
AFC West: Kansas City Chiefs/Denver Broncos (have a funny feeling, 9-7 will likely win this division)

NFC North: Green Bay Packers
NFC South: New Orleans Saints
NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles
NFC West: St. Louis Rams

AFC Championship Game: Baltimore @ New England (though it could as easily be colts, unsure)
NFC Championship Game: Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers
Superbowl: Green Bay to repeat over Baltimore.. though i have a funny feeling about Eagles/Pats rematch either
Surprise Team: My very own broncos. Drafting Von Miller, 2 safeties, a DT and 2 linebackers to go along with the additions of Bunkley and Ty Warren with Dumervil, Dawkins and Champ already there means our defence will make marked improvements while our offence is already decent (and outright explosive if Tebow ends up at QB)
Underachieving team: As always, im picking the chargers. May make playoffs but it will be the same old story after that. Given the level of talent there it constitutes underachieving imo.
Worst Team: One of the two ohio teams, literally cannot make my mind up as to who will be worse between the browns and bengals

MVP: Aaron Rodgers
Offensive MVP: Michael Vick
DPOY: Clay Matthews
Offensive Rookie MVP: Cam Newton
Defensive Rookie MVP: Von Miller
Surprise Player: Darren Sproles( i reckon he'll have a huge impact in New Orleans and to make them forget about Reggie Bush)
Underachiever of the year: Jay Cutler

Audacious prediction of the year: Heres a few: Raiders to return to the 5 wins or less club, Pittsburgh to struggle this year by their standards thanks to a SB hangover, Detroit to still struggle despite a talented team, Sam Bradford to have a pro bowl season thanks in part to Josh Mc Daniels, Cutler to feel the heat a bit from the fans after what happened in the NFC conference game and not perform as well due to it.

My own Team (Broncos):
Record: 7-9 to 9-7 mark or thereabouts
Best Rookie: Von Miller. However the one im most excited about is our fourth round TE, Julius Thomas. Meant to be lighting up camp and has been touted by some to be in the mould of one Antonio Gates.
Most looking forward to seeing: Us win a meaningful game for the first time in a while, i hope! That and a revitalised Defence under Fox's steady hand.

AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers

AFC East: New England Patriots
AFC West: San Diego Chargers

NFC North:
Green Bay Packers
NFC South: New Orleans Saints
NFC East: Dallas Cowboys
NFC West: St Louis Rams

AFC Championship:
New England Patriots vs San Diego Chargers
NFC Championship: Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers
Superbowl: New England Patriots vs Green Bay Packers
Superbowl Winner: Green Bay Packers

"Surprise" Team:
Houston Texans
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Team: New York Jets
Worst Team: SF 49ers

Off MVP: Aaron Rodgers
Def MVP: Clay Matthews
Off Rookie MVP: Julio Jones
Def Rookie MVP: Nick Fairley
"Surprise" Player: Andy Dalton (if he can get the starts)
Underachieving/Over-Hyped Player: Mark Sanchez

Audacious Prediction of the Season:
Julio Jones will break a receiving record as a rookie with the Falcons. In the perfect team for a receiver and from the little I've seen of him - and from what all the pros are saying about him - he could be a mammoth WR. Edit: not that audacious. May try harder.

Your Own Team: Packers
Regular season record: 13-3 (losses coming on the road at Detroit, Atlanta and San Diego)
Best rookie: Alex Green
Most looking forward to seeing: Ryan Grant and Jermichael Finley back in action. Their replacements did brilliantly whilst they were out injured last season but they should improve the side big time now that they're back.
