I won't be trusting those "leaked" jerseys anymore after a guy on reddit had his fake design mass produced link

Past managers with better records than AVB (and therefore, you would think, better able to command the dressing room) have failed to rejuvenate the squad properly, control the big egos etc.

I feel sorry for AVB. He's obviously been told to make major changes to the squad, and those members of the squad who know they are on their way out are being as uncooperative and unprofessional as possible (witness Frank Lampard taking absolutely no notice of the instructions being given to him when about to go on as a sub). Further pressure is being heaped upon him by the press, who are in the main anti-Chelsea (again witness the fact that Ryan Giggs has been having extra marital affairs left, right and centre, yet the media's bête noire is always John Terry), with all sorts of spurious stories. Take last night for example, much was made of Cole, Essien, Lampard and Torres being on the bench, yet no mention was made of Cole being 50-50 to start anyway, or that Essien was still not fully fit after half a season out injured. As for the Lampard situation, neither he nor Meireles have played particularly well this season, but given the choice between a player sulking and undermining his authority and one who at least tows the line, it's no surprise why AVB chose Raul ahead of Frank!

It's a damning indictment of past managers that our best right back is a center back. It's a damning indictment of past managers that we have no-one to provide width. It's a damning indictment of past managers that some players believe THEY control the dressing room, THEY have the right to start every game come what may, THEY decide what formation and style will be played.

To give a novice manager, however talented he may be, and however great he may yet become, the task of completely changing from top to bottom the squad and the style of football is a major challenge. To do so without the backing of many of the senior professionals makes that job even harder.

Great Post Stg!!

Completely agree.

If Lampard, Cole or Terry does not do what is asked of them they should be dropped end of story. The manager is in charge and his dicisions are final. We dont know the whole story as to why a manager picks his starting 11 so we have to have faith in AVB and back him while he is in charge. I hope to god we keep AVB because i can see him becoming brilliant for us and change our style of play. I really do feel for him and every where i look people are out for AVBs blood.

As stated earlier if we do sack AVB who do we get to replace him? The merry go round will start again. We have to stick with AVB and if the players cannot do what is asked then they will have to be replaced. Im not saying we have to change the whole squad but we are missing in key areas and a lot of our players have gone stale.

As for our Jersys changing i will happily buy every Jersey we release because i support CFC and its my way of helping our finances. If you dont want to buy a new jersey then dont, simples.

I'm guessing that when the decision to give the job to AVB was made, they did look at a worst possible scenario. But I'd say that entailed us not competing for the league and CL this year but still comfortably finishing in the top 4.
With us now in freefall of late and looking in danger of not getting CL football next season, I'd say we are in uncharted waters and RA will almost certainly be looking at plan B.

What do people make of the Rafa Benitez taking over talk, if AVB gets the chop in the next few weeks.

Personally I'd rather someone else anyway then Rafa.

With the lack of candidates for the job out there it could be AVB's saving grace.

he is good manager but it would make no difference IMO, the players are still useless.

Who would be your number 1 choice if AVB does get the chop?

Mostly the same players that won the double almost 2 years ago with a couple of players thrown in like Torres, Ramires and Sturridge.

Rafa might get the best out of Torres if he was to replace AVB.

I'd take Mourhino back over him though, we all seen what happened when Rafa went in and took over practically the same team Jose had won a UCL with.

I'd agree though, with our current squad, a lot of managers would struggle for results and performances.

Unfair to use Inter as a stick to beat Rafa with.
He didn't do too bad there by the time he left.

We are with out question in danger of losing out on CL football next season but we are not out yet. AVB must improve our results of course but he must be given time.

If AVB is sacked i will be absolutely discussded, and if we appoint rafa i will be suicidal !!!!

Rafa is a terrible manager that plays terrible football, the oposite of what Roman wants!!

Rafa won't be interested in any event. No manager above gun for hire/journeyman level would be willing to have that much interference in his job.
