Apps for Sony Ericsson X8

as above
lookin for good, fun, free apps for my x8.
and also like a different layout for home screen or something, i just want to make it like a different phone.

the reason im askin here is because i go onto the android market and look through almost everything and nothing catches my eye.

i'd be lookin for, weather, time and date, battey widgets just anything to customise the phone

cheers

This they are excellent.

Also I just downloaded and setup Link2SD. You can partition your SD card to allow your phone to store applications on the SD card.

This will help you get over the out of space on phone message you might get like me after installing loads of apps.

Free Apps I recommend:
GoLauncherEx (hold down on home and add the widgets for clock etc.. functionality to return).

Launcher 7 if you want it to look like Windows Phone 7 (its kind of annoying after a while TBH but its probably just user preference).

Home Manager (allows you to pick default launcher from the above or stock Andriod one and stop them if they are running.

GoSMSPro (free, get the iPhone theme also free as its best looking one IMO).

Facebook (update it if you have it, brings much needed fixes).

Cabbage (send web texts from phone when your on WiFi, can save you credit).

Daft.ie (if your looking for a house to rent/buy, good features).

Dublin Bus (for the timetables).

ES File Explorer (allows you to do a whole load of stuff including file browsing of your SD card from your phone and remote copy and paste from a network share).

Flashlight (kinda useless but I use it for when I'm stuck and need a light).

IMDB (great app, can give Irish cinema times using your location).

Ireland News (loads of newspapers for Ireland that are online, allows easy reading of articles).

Next Train Ireland (fantastic app to get latest train times includes live updates from the website and notifications from the Irish Rail twitter.

Skype (free calls and messages to other skype users, even supports speaker phone).

Ted Air (has all the ted talks viewable much like the built in youtube app if you like Ted Talks on all sorts of subjects).

TV-Guide (Great app for anyone with Sky/UPC, supports reminders and enabling/disabling channels you don't have from the feed. Gives IMDB rating for movies on the listings which is useful).

TheFuelApp (can find the cheapest fuel to your area for your car and give directions to the pump).

Dilbert (dilbert comics)

XKCyanide (XKCD and Cyanide and Happiness web comics).

ThickButton (new keyboard makes keys larger based on probablity of words your typing).

Lookout security suite (offers phone backup/anti-virus scanning/phone location, all in one. Don't really know if there are many virus type applications for Android, probably not but I'm sure it detects malware type applications too).

Free Games:
YooNinja Free (fun platform jumping game, character runs and you avoid obstacles jumping from roof to floor, basically a timing game).

Find Differences (a simple spot the difference app if your like that sort of thing).

Speedx 3D Free (best game I have found TBH. 3D tunnel and tilt phone to spin in tunnel to avoid obstacles.

Free Running (has two buttons. Jump/Duck. You press whichever one you need to, nice graphics and runs smooth).

Battle Ludo (its ludo oh a phone )

My Word Game (its scrabble on a phone. Hard!! Play against computer and you can tap the word the computer enters to look up its definition if you want to know what a word means).

Angry Birds (well obviously, this takes up a good bit of space though and can get jumpy on my phone on later levels as there are a lot of objects on screen. Think it is really designed for more powerful phone).

Really recommend Rooting your phone and doing the partitioning of link2sd if you start getting the out of space message.

Link to howto partition using GUI partition manager in windows.

I've a couple of questions about this phone, how do i disable the phones sms notifications so I can just use the notifications from Go SMS?? And I synced my facebook page with the phone when I got it but now when i go to my phone book or to write a message, all my facebook contacts show up...even though most of them are just email addresses..how do i deactivate this??

For notifications go into the message apps settings and untick Notifications.

Try Fancy Widget. Free version available, and very good too.
It'll give you the whole time/date/battery/alarm/weather end of things and loads more options.

From your username, you might also enjoy Camera360 . Lots of fun on a camera like the X8.

If your using GoSMS, you have to disable notifications in the standard SMS app, otherwise both will notify you. Load up the standard SMS app and press the bttton on bottom left for menu and you should be able to go into settings there and turn off notifications.

One reason to switch to GoSMS is if you are getting out of space warnings, standard messanger, loses messages it can't store because its out of storage.
If you use GoSMS, it rejects the message, tells you it is because you have no space but it rejected acceptance at network level so O2 will try to send it again later.

In Contacts options (which you can access similar to accessing SMS options), there is an option to only show contacts with phone numbers. If it doesn't exist in standard contacts app, it definitely exists in the GoContacts.

edit---

Another great game is glow hockey, like table hockey and completely free.

Kindle app is okay, you can get free classic books but you have to purchase them at price of 0 so you need to add credit card to your account.
