Hi folks,

I'm going to be running a couple of side-events in addition to and to compliment the main CoD4 tournament. At the moment, these will be:
  • Quake Live - This will be run as brackets, and will probably be a Bo3 single elimination tournament with the final Bo5. Map list, rules, etc are being written up at the moment. I'm in touch with id software to try and get LAN support for the event, else matches will be played on private servers using the nearest host (Maidenhead, UK).
  • Super Street Fighter IV - The guys from streetfighter.ie and the Fighting Games section of boards will be running this as they have their own set-up well rehearsed, with brackets, seedings, equipment and recording abilities.
Any tournaments will probably have an entry fee of 10 Euro (solely to fund the prize pot).

Potentially, there could also be Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Black Ops 360 tournaments, but the issue with them is time allocated, number of players attending, and in the case of Black Ops I really need the hardware to get that to happen. Black Ops could be on the cards though with a little more talking to folk, just watch.

So yeah, people, if you're interested in any of the above, drop me a PM or e-mail me at emsixteen+dublin@gmail.com please! Alternatively, EmSixTeen in #esports.ie on Quakenet, or emsixteen on Skype.

I'd like to help out with event, for the xbox part.
I'm big into competitive gaming and i play decerto all the time on gamebattles and decerto EU so i could be a big help with setting up the rules and alocating teams to there positions for starting rounds ( judging that its going to be a knockout style event)
i could also come in a few days (or weeks) early to help set up xbox stands or even xbox's , sure il even bring in my own.
I merely just want to help out for the fun of it and hopefully get ireland into competitive gaming
its times like these where i wish i lived in America to compete in console games haha
anyway give me an email and let me know what the story is mate

Your right i haven't researched the xbox scene coz i don't know anyone in it..hence why i requested admins to help with it. SO contact me on the email above and let me know how you think the xbox players can be involved and what games.
I wasn't thinking of 5v5 black ops but if there are machines out there and we can hold it then i will of course consider it. Even 1v1 fighting games or whatever the players want is ok with me.
To be honest im surprised at the lack of enthusiasm from the xbox scene in relation to this event. Iv been accused of a scam and all sorts of things...quite remarkable to be honest and certainly wasn't expecting it when all im doing is trying to involve xbox in the event.
Have a meeting with a contact who can get some Microsoft involvement in the event which will be great if we can achieve that.

I have secured a studio room for the xboxers if required or they may be in the main hall..either way I dont mind.

regards
KosH

OH really what??

Bit late quoting this but I wouldn't worry about this Hatchet man guy. Don't know how he holds so much influence when I haven't ever heard of him or any of the "top Xbox players" posting here.

There's only a handful of influential Xbox players in Ireland realistically. They would be the of course anyone who has attended UK LANs such as XL4-XL6 and the new ECL franchise. That would be a few of the top Halo and CoD players, me being part of the latter.

You might have read my post on Decerto.net (the biggest competitive CoD community in EU just in case you ever need to advertise in future) but yeah, I wouldn't be expecting a big turn out for this simply because of a massive gap between bedroom players and LAN attenders in Ireland. The main cause of this being the lack of advertisement because I know countless noobs who could be easily introduced to the scene only that they just don't know about it.

A better idea for the future if you wanted to go big would be to advertise on Decerto, with the right prizes you'd be looking at 20+ International teams, but I know your priority lies with PC. If you ever want to talk just send me a PM on this or Decerto.

I've been super lazy with organising QL because I've been too busy with real life and having a laugh, so much so that I've barely publicised it. Also, truth be told, trying to sort the console Black Ops guys really tired and stressed me out. It'll be a turn up and pay2play affair, €10/€15 entry and all proceeds go to the prize pot for top 3. I have non-legit LAN servers but I can't really run any event using those, so it'll be on the college's 100mbit (so I'm told) line. I'll be making a few posts places for the QL, but it's super super short notice.

I'd love if as many people as can could come to the QL though, would be so nice to have a good wee tourney on the go for it.
