Anyway, I reckon i'm nearly finished it. I'm Spoiler: just about to get the guns for the leader of the gangs in the prison, in the basement and i have to say that the area changes come at exactly the right times for me. Just as i'm getting sick of an area it moves on. However, i think they could have done a bit more in there, but i was still very happy with it. I just don't want it to end. Seriously strong contender for GOTY.

Have noticed something though. I got the trophy for attaining all collectibles, but i'm missing a good few Hearld Extracts, ID tags and recordings...

I had to sell my XBox360, only have my PC left for playing games, and want to get Dead Island but if I'm going to spend the money I want to make sure I can play it.

Ok, so I have the following -

And want to play the game. I'm fairly sure I could play it, might be a little slow or poor, but the game will be playable. As an indication I've had the Fifa 12 demo running today on the same computer with no problems whatsoever, so could that be a good indication that this will work?

Please help, just don't want to waste the money. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the link, sadly I tried this, and it told me I was not able to run the game due to my graphics card. Well, finally completed it. Underwhelming to say the least and the game falls into the same old trap of fleshy beginning, speed-run to the ending mechanic.

Still, what a fun game it was, especially since I managed to finally fix co-op and get a few multiplayer games in.

Problem is, as fun as that is, it makes the game ridiculously easy, even just 2 people can steamroll through everything with ease and you're never punished for dying.

Time to celebrate with a Dead Island Joyride tbh - Added a little Office Space thanks to a post earlier in this thread regarding multiple people vs a downed thug.

So, finished it last night, and aside from a bit of a pants ending, it is still a definite contender for GOTY. (Anyone have a list of all games that have come out this year so far? Played so many i can't remember what i did play!)

As for the ending, Spoiler: it was a bit sudden, a bit unexplained, and a bit crap, and maybe it was a rush job, however it does set it up for a sequel, hoefully in another exotic location.

Aside from the lag issues (offline) and a couple of warp moments in the Spoiler: prison where i died on the way to a checkpoint and resumed at the checkpoint, it's a great game. Not going to play online, i think it will suit better as a single player. Might go on just to get the trophies.

As i've now finished the game, it gives me the option to continue with me level and items, but can i take it i can't start as a different character?

Also, and i'm impressed by this, i've just over 40 hours put in. Well surprised by that. I was thinking 20-25, but when i checked the stats and saw 40 i was well happy! Great value for money. And hopefully they'll fix the "There and back again" bug, unless the Arena is the 72nd location, in which case WHEN CAN I ACCESS IT!!?!?!?

Unfortunately no, you cannot start a completed game as a different character, you start post-prologue with your chosen character, their build, their cash, items and level.

I decided to start over as Sam-B (Was using him before the whole 'twenty installs trying to get co-op to work' scenario kept wiping my saves, no idea why I picked Perna after that).

I really love the City parts - Human enemies, the creepy sounds, tonnes of zombies, really nice area. The jungle, well, did it in co-op, ended up just speeding through it no problem, couldn't appreciate it.

As much as I like the game I do not see it competing for GOTY when you have releases like Skyrim, MW3, BF3 & GoW3....I havnt played any of these yet but their name alone puts them in contention because of the general gaming public.

Right, i'll continue on until i get to Level 50 and then speed run the first act with the other characters.

I do think it will be knocked off the top spot as contender for GOTY, more than likely by BF3, MW3, Batman:AC and Skyrim (Assassins Creed probably won't get GOTY because it's not a 3!), but it's the strongest contender so far.

Right, it's between these so far. And i'm leaning towards Dead Island. But, alas, there are about 5 more hopefully excellent games coming.

I have played more on that list, but i must have played a good few last year games too... Singularity stands out!
