By its nature and its origin, most of the participants are car enthusiasts which stereotypically are mostly male. This year however we have 5 girls signed up to do it with us. 3 of them are doing it with their partners and 2 are doing it together.

This is kind of up in the air at the moment but the general view is it will be for the end of February so that it gives participants maximum time to raise support and more importantly donations for Barretstown.

It will start early on Saturday June 4th and will commence late on Monday June 6th. It will involve 3 full and pretty intense days of driving.

If you've any more questions, just ask.

EDIT: Damnit Donal, getting there in front of me with your lack of multiquoting and fast typing skillz

I'm a lady!

So is it the sooner we pay the sooner we get the sponsor cards? Or will they all be sent out together?

We would hope to have the sponsorship cards available for the second week in February and they will become available to participants on receipt of deposit any time after that.

I live in the midlands, Draffodx lives in the Northeast, and Onkle lives in South Dublin. Between the three of us we will arrange to meet everyone and collect the deposits from ye. Anyone can contact us via PM and we will arrange a time and place suitable to the participant to arrange the payment of deposit and also the issuing of the sponsorship cards.

That can be arranged. We could then post the sponsorship forms up to you.

I wasn't gonna go 'cause I thought I'd be intruding on a lads weekend too, but it seems the bf has subscribed me to this forum, and put my name down.

We really don't want it perceived as a lads weekend, while the ratio of men to women was pretty bad in our first year we hope to improve that this year and into the years ahead.

The main idea of the trip is a fairly tough drive around the country in 3 days taking in around 1300 kms of what is a beautiful country in aid of Barretstown, its not like the canonball or similar where people pay to have a good time or to see fancy cars.

This is an event open to anyone with a full driving license and a car (and any passengers ) no matter what it is, its an event for everyone to take part in male or female while being able to contribute to a very very worthy cause.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that females are very welcome to whats not a lads weekend
