Trouble finding servers.

Recently I upgraded to UPC 30mb internet and have been trouble finding many games at all, the max I've found is 54.

I had Eircom before and usually found 1000-4000 servers if I let it refresh for a while. But even with eircom recently it had been acting up and I thought a ISP change would solve it. So I'm thinking it's not my modem. (Probably could be)

Any help lads? (or ladies)

OS: W7 64bit.
Anti-virus: Avaist! Pro.

If you need any other info to help me out, let me know.

Thanks.

I have the exact same problem... I'm with UPC also. You'll probably notice that they are mostly Dutch and German ones to. I think its because UPC use a proxy around there that messes with the results... could be wrong though

donm't think they proxy, they definately filter though. Have you tried direct connection, there really isn't that many servers out there that I can find on any connections I use...

I don't have a clue what the problem could be, but you could just use www.game-monitor.com

Bit of an old thread but in case anyone else is having the same issue.
It's a firewall problem afaik.

A friend of mine couldn't see any servers in the server list. It was a while ago but I think I just forwarded the ports. You can go find the appropriate ports yourselves.

Best way of telling if it's the firewall is by going to your router's webpage and by DMZ'ing your PC. Test out if you can populate the full server list and if it works, then you know where the problem lies.

I wouldn't recommend leaving your PC in the DMZ indefinitely though so make sure you disable it afterwards.

To add to the confusion in this thread, I also have a problem with Finding Servers.

I'm on UPC and what happens to me is when I go to Find Servers tab, the servers refresh and load OK. The problem starts about 20 seconds after I refreshed the server list. Then my internet just dies and the only way to fix that is to re-connect to the Internet.

But when I refresh servers in Favourites and History everything works fine.

Its a problem that makes no sense at all in my opinion.

same thing happened to me last night. I got the notion to install CS 1.6 for the first time in years (thanks Boards.ie starcraft lan ) and for some reason the server refresh killed my Internet connection (I'm UPC 20MB). I had to restart my computer, though I didn't have to restart my UPC box.

very weird, maybe it is something to do with the ports CS uses. the guys on the Broadband forum might know
