Deportation for serious criminals?

Early results from the Swiss referendum show that the majority of people there are in favour of deportation for non-nationals convicted of serious crime. Is this a sensible move or setting a dangerous precedent? I feel that if you decide to live in a country and fail to abide by the law then your right to live there should be taken away.
I wonder how many people here would be in favour of such measures?

I fully agree with it.

I'd also like to seem some of the b@stards who destroyed this country jailed, stripped of their citizenship and deported.

Why not leave out the "convicted of serious crime" bit and replace it with non nationals who shouldnt be here.
