While this long process slowly trundles on, I'd like to suggest that those of us who have access to S&S in its current form should make an effort to liven the place up.
There's an average of maybe one post every two days there now. It's almost pointless proposing new rules/access if people aren't using the forum anyway. And yes, I know I should be leading by example instead of just saying it.

One of the issues I've always had with the forum is finding it. I use the Beta theme and the S&S forum doesn't show up.

Just FYI the FForward machine has ground to a halt - It will remain in this state until the powers that be have free'd up enough time and resources to continue with FeedForward - Until then they seem to have much more important matters at hand to deal with before this happens.
I'm not entirely sure if and how S&S may have changed previous to the last post in this thread but it's best not to bump for updates in these threads for the moment. I'm sure once FFor gets back into action, all previous unfinished threads will possibly start over if not simply continue on. |

The forum is still dead. It's rare to see more than one active thread in a week. The policies that kept the forum artificially busy 3-6 years ago have (rightly, in my opinion) been relaxed. Once upon a time every thread than mentioned sex or sexuality got reported, locked and moved to the S&S forum. It was over-kill at the time, but but those were days when Feedback still had LOLcats and you couldn't argue with certain moderators. TLL, TGC, C&H and LGBT are now the places where people talk about those topics. Even After Hours has a few somewhat sex-related threads every so often. They're not as "explicit" as the discussions in S&S used to be, but a lot of the crowd that used to post in the greatest detail seems to have moved on from Boards anyway. Those forums are the right places for those discussions now. The current S&S forum is worth keeping, but until people feel comfortable to open up and post honestly there it's going to stay dormant. |

tl;dr on the older posts here.
When I joined wibbs in modding S&S, I was told that change was imminent. Eons later, that change hasnt come. Now, I understand it's because there seems to be a mountain of administrative red tape around here right now (which shows up in other areas too). I was never involved in FF, so I sat around and waited, and hoped, and then gave up. Being honest, I felt the powers that be didnt have an interest in it, so it didnt happen. Yes, the main forum became quiet. Part of this could actually be because other regulars also expected a change that never came. Though I know that some of the active posters from a few years ago no longer post in the forum, which has made it suffer. I remember some fantastic threads from a certain few back in the day, that were some of the best, most informative, threads Ive read anywhere on boards. It wasnt just that threads were pushed there. Good posters shared deep insights quite apart from outside threads coming in. I dont see (even given that sex is discussed elsewhere too) why that atmosphere cannot be rekindled. The quality of posters hasnt diminished, just the interest or trust in the S&S forum. |

I guess a question that should be asked is whether or not there's a need for a Sex and Sexuality forum any more. There have been open and frank discussions taking place in the Ladies Lounge and the Gentleman's Club. When S&S was first created, these two forums simply didn't exist, but now that they do and are relatively popular, it would seem to negate the need for S&S.
