Full License Driver....

Hi all...just in need of a little advise. I have a full driving license (restricted to vehicles with automatic transmission) However I would like to get a full driving license (manual) Does anyone know if I can just apply to do my test or do I have to go the whole route of getting a learners permit and basically starting from scratch again??

Any advise greatly appreciated

Unfortunately you will need to get another learner permit.

When driving a manual car, you will be doing so on your learner permit, not your full license. As such, you will have to display L-plates, have an accompanying driver, and obey all the other relevant rules and regulations that pertain to learner permit holders. Since it will not be your first learner permit in the category, you will not have to wait 6 months before taking your test.

Naturally, you can continue driving automatic vehicles on your full license, just as you are doing right now.

When you pass your test in a manual vehicle, you will qualify for an unrestricted full license that will entitle you to drive both manuals and automatics.

I think that if you've held a valid learner permit within the past five years, you should be okay. Otherwise you may have to take it again. But I'm not 100% sure on that point.
