Only just finished season 3 now. Started watching this about 3 years ago. Gave up on the second season, picked it up again, watched all 2, and most of 3. Just finished 3 tonight. One advantage to this is.....

Just watching S03 E01 for the first time. Walt's speech in the gym after the crash is genius. As Bubbles from the Wire would say, he was equivocatin' like a motherfúcker.

Season 3 finally released on DVD over here. Only about 2 years since it was on tv, but still great to see it released. No better excuse than to watch it all from the beginning again, especially with Season 5 starting soon

I have two questions about this series that have been bugging me (well the second one I think is more an observation but judge for yourself)
Spoiler:
1. Why did Hank own up to beating up Jesse?Nobody saw him do it, he could have just walked off and denied the whole thing later. Was it because he thought this would be unethical and wanted to do the right thing?

2. When Walt offered Jesse a 50/50 cut of Gus's deal to make the 3 million dollars of meth, was it because he threatened to expose Walt by pressing charges against Hank over the beating or because he felt bad about him getting beaten up over the hoax call he made to get Hank away from the RV? (I think it's the former)

I am only halfway through the third season so don't put up any spoilers.

I think on the surface it was purely Walt honouring a long term agreement with Jesse, who first introduced him to the “meth world” and has been his partner from day one, but I have also always thought Walt feels a certain responsibility towards Jesse and vice versa (most of the time). For me, their relationship is the spine of the show and it goes without saying they have each other’s back (subject to change, not a spoiler, just speculation!)

I don't know about that; when Walt came to visit Jesse in the hospital and Jesse said to him that he was going to bury Hank (or whatever way he put it) he also said that he was going to grass up on Walt to him.
Walt then went out to speak to Saul and was really worried. It was then he went back in and offered him the 50/50 deal. He had to, it was the only way he could get him to not press charges.
