I bought the previous pc that had (similar spec with smaller harddrive) and its a mighty machine. Defo a bargain.

was looking for that myself, no mention of it, you can pick up a wireless dongle pretty cheap though, I have two from DX working perfectly.
But hey, when it pops up on the website it may have it, just not mentioned in the flyer

All recent Medion desktops have had wireless so I'd be very surprised if this one didn't.

    If I'm remembering the leaflet correctly, it's a 512mb G210.

Costs about $35 in the states, basically worthless for gaming(Think ~8fps in Far Cry 2 at 1280*1024 and medium settings)

Guess the PSU spec is more relevant then ;)

Still, I doubt a GT240/HD4770/HD5750 would cane even a naff PSU. Stick in one of those (and, if feeling cheeky, OC the CPU just a bit...) and you have a pretty strong gaming rig. €400 + cost of monitor and GPU isn't bad at all, as the ol' Windows Tax is already paid on this rig :D

There is no monitor? How much would a decent monitor cost?

The 8300 is a 2.5 quad processor, thats all you need at the moment unless you are a hardcore gamer

    http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB5W

with 4 gig ram, 1 tb space, etc.. very very good spec for that price.

Anyone interested in gaming can throw an ATI 4670 into this for nice gaming

or a 4770, 5750 or 5770 for progressively much better gaming

all have low power draw and should work with the power unit.

    Gorgeous Graphics

If you want to play popular mainstream games like World of Warcraft, Spore or Sims3, the GeForce 210 is an essential addition to your PC.

lol, not exactly the most graphic intensive games out there is it. WOW can run on integrated graphics.

It won't run any of those games at decent resolutions.

Also, a 4670/4770/5750 aren't worth it, if you want to game on it: get a 4870 or 5770.

Anyone know if the hardware is osx compatible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,888 ✭✭✭Rsaeire

This is a good deal, given the CPU and HDD.

I would have loved if ALDI had a similar system, but with a small HDD, integrated graphics and no peripherals, as the price would have been a lot cheaper and I could have upgraded the graphics and HDD myself.

    Odd comment.

This is not an enthusiast PC, it has a weak power supply. A 4870 uses up too much power. Which is why I recommended cards which do not use much power, e.g. 4770 or 5750, which, when coupled with a 8300 quad can run almost every game out there with good framerates at 1680 x 1050 resolution (thats a 22 inch monitor).

If, however, you make up the 0.05% of people who play games on 2560 x 1600, and are a complete enthusiast, then why you'd be buying this PC in the first place is beyond me.

Games aside what do you think of it? Would it be good for surfing and using photoshop and or quark express. is it good enough for those? Thank you

theres a scan of the ad from the aldi leaflet from the UK here which is almost definately going to be the same.

The make a big deal about the LAN in the ad, and no mention of wireless, so I'd say surprisingly there is no wireless adapter.

5 page thread on HUKD about this (£350 in UK) http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/572480/medion-akoya-pc-x7330-d?
