Beye would be an excellent addition IMO. He'll come cheap and has Premier League experience. If on top of that we manage to piss off a few Newcastle fans in the process of signing him well then that's super

I would love to see the conversation on his first day of Sunderland training between him and Cattermole if we do sign him though, considering Cattermole almost ruined his career.

"Alright Habib, remember me?"

Not that funny really, Clattermole's a spoilt brat as much as Barton and isn't the most reliable tackle either. Beye, Digard so on, nearly ruined their careers.

I'd be surprised if Beye does go, although it wouldn't surprise me, money talks.

Why would you be surprised? He's not getting a game at Villa, is 32 years old and he won't get another opportunity to play regular Premier League football again, he'd be a fool not to go.

Canny game ongoing at The Hawthorns by the way

We'll considering Beye played for Newcastle, and is quite a loyal lad, I would be surprised if he went to Sunderland. At the same time, I won't be too surprised, because money talks as I said.

Ye do need a new RB though, considering Hutton snubbed ye and Bardsley is dodgy, Beye would be good. da Silva has seemed like granddad in defence like

Canny game indeed, 2-0, going out of the cup, then can fully concentrate on returning to the Premier League where we belong

Ah it won't make a difference to him IMO, it's not as if he's a local lad and was brought up supporting Newcastle and hating Sunderland. It doesn't matter to these foreign lads to be honest. As I've said, he's 32, won't get another opportunity to play regular first team football and would be a fool not to move for fear of a few Newcastle fans getting pissed off.

Yeah two full backs are a priority, that's for sure. Hutton hasn't snubbed us though, there has been no contact with Tottenham since the first week of January and that was just to ask if they'd be interested in selling, I'd imagine considering we signed Kilgallon that the swap deal of Ferdinand for Hutton which was proposed last Summer might be resurrected. Da Silva is a centre half and not a right back, he's only played one game as a right back this season too so I'm not sure why you've listed him there

It's a pity it wasn't a CCC game though, all the same it could be the start of a wobble and the news of Taylor's injury won't have helped.

It's 1-1 in our game now, Utaka with the goal, Gordon at fault apparently. It wouldn't surprise me if Bruce took the hit on Gordon and signed a Goalkeeper of his own.

Maybe, but you lot mightn't be the only ones in for Beye.

da Silva has looked like a turtle a CB too, I don't think he can cut it, but he was a free..

If it was a league game, we wouldn't be playing Pancrate or a couple others. We've played most of 'the big championship teams' away already so they've to come to our place.

I'm not too keen to stay in the cup away, would pick up even more injuries.

Well his agent was on French Radio the other night and said Sunderland were interested and never mentioned any other club, I suspect he would have in the same interview the other night if there was anyone else interested.

Da Silva hasn't looked like a turtle at all to be honest, you've probably watched him once or twice and a few highlightes on MoTD, and you can't possibly judge based on that, I can't imagine you watching 90 minutes of Sunderland games week in, week out. He's done as well as can be expected given the fact that he's missed a pre-season, and has had to adapt to a new language and culture. He's probably been our best defender aside from Mensah but he's never fit.

Ironically, my brother is a Sunderland fan, and for the last 15 years, through the upd, and the many downs . The days of Kevin Phillips, Tore Andre Flo, Varga and all the boys.
I see quite a lot of their matches.

da Silva is a good headerer of the ball, I'll give him that but I think he needs serious tuning up to cut it.
McCartney needs offloading. Was a poor buy if you ask me.

Really? ****ing hell how do you two not kill each other

McCartney was a poor buy in hindsight, I'll give you that, but at the time there was quite a few clubs interested and most people felt he was a decent purchase. Keane wasn't to know that he would go on to get injured and struggle, given the fact he had missed hardly any games due to injury prior to rejoining Sunderland.

Haha, we're don't really tear into each other in fairness. Many a Tynewear derby we've watched together.

He's very happy with Bent & Bruce though.
He didn't want Kilgallon either, and he's says most Land fans didn't either..

Robbie Keane to wearside?

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is shaping up to be the biggest name on the move during Monday's transfer deadline day.

Keane has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane with Harry Redknapp viewing Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch as his preferred strike partnership.

Sunderland are the latest club to be linked with a swoop for the Republic of Ireland captain, who is valued at around £9million.

Celtic had a bid turned down earlier this month while West Ham, who were trumped by Spurs in their attempt to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen, have also expressed an interest.

However, the Hammers' shortage of striking options is set to addressed by the imminent arrival of Benni McCarthy in a £2.5million move from Blackburn.

According to George Caulkin (North-East Reporter) there's no chance of Keane coming to SAFC.

The most reliable source on the RTG Forum has said Alan Hutton is now in talks with us.
