Parking at Thomond
Hi, my hubby is going to the Munster match 2mor night and it will be his first time at Thomond park. Just wondering what his best option for parking would be. He will be coming from Fermoy, so coming in the Ballysimon Road. Would he be best to park in the city and walk out to Thomond? How long a walk would that be? Thanks in advance.

Park at Kilmurry Lodge (opposite SQ Shopping Centre in Castletroy) and get a Park and Ride to Thomond Park for €5.
Alternatively, park in one of the car parks and walk it. I'd use the Cornmarket car park. The walk to TP is about 15-20 mins. Make sure to leave Fermoy early and avoid Mitchelstown. Last edited by thomond2006; 10-12-2009 at 15:43. |

There are plenty areas to park around Thomond as long as you get there early. Some of the housing estates have plenty of empty parking areas, just make sure you dont park in someones drive way or right outside their front door.
![]() Also you could try the outdoor parking lot of Jetland shopping center. I know a few people who park there with no problems, only make sure to stick with the crowd after the game because that area gets really dark at night and im not sure if there is security around there. Finally, if you are not a lazy bum and have the ability to walk then i would recommend just parking in town in one of the multistory car parks and walk towards the stadium. Enjoy the match!

Don't follow this advice unless he enjoys sitting in jams after the match. Park in one of the many multi stories in town and walk out. You'll do it in 20 mins at a leisurely pace.

Watch out, some of those multi-storeys close early, I was at the AB match and came back to find that the gate had been shut and locked.
If it wasnt for a stolen car being chased by the gardai getting stuck in the same street there would have been no resedential spectators to let us in to the building. Maybe the larger ones closer in to town might be better. |

And dont forget some of us live near Thomond Park and what drives me nuts is people park on our narrow avenue without any regard for who lives there. Lots of old people live around me and god help they ever need an ambulance on the night of a heineken cup game. Cars parked on footpaths etc, come on people have some cop on and respect.
![]() Advice: Street park in town and its all free, if your coming from ballysimon road, park in Mulgrave Street imo. Last edited by bonnieprince; 11-12-2009 at 01:31. Reason: advice |

The long pavement is always good if you're early enough... Not really a pavement to anywhere so you won't be annoying the locals and the road is quite wide so you won't be causing traffic jams and it's a nice walk to the stadium from there.
It's the road which, if you're at Hassett's cross looking at Thomond Park, goes to the right. But it's not that far from town to the park, so if you park in town and walk, you also get to soak in the atmosphere... Last edited by komodosp; 11-12-2009 at 14:06. |
