These small loppers are superb & amazing value. I do more work with these that any of the four other pairs that I use. They are very light, fit in a big pocket & cut really well. Absolute bargain.

+1 for seedaholics

Also Premierseedsdirect.co.uk. Very fast, very little packaging, low postage.

The Woodies ones have Diamuid Gavin's name on them !. But if you look at the manufacturer name & model they are the same.

I have used a lot of loppers & for sheer power these are very good - if a branch will fit between the blades it can easily be cut. You would not use them for lighter pruning as the ratchet mechanism has to reset between cuts.

Strange. I used mine a lot this winter & because of the ratchet, I only use them for the thick stuff. I have had no problems with tree branches, thick hedging etc. I would be cautious using them with the handles extended as there is a lot of leverage.

I used to use the CK Power Loppers which had a lifetime guarantee. Amazingly I got them replaced three times over about 5 years when the plastic snapped - I think that they have given up on that idea.

I am a gardener so I am used to gentle finesse. What did you buy instead ?.

B&Q €185 for a self propelled mower & free strimmer. Not quality but very cheap.

Also Bosch Isio Lithium Ion grass shears & shrub/hedge pruner down from about €70 to €45. The hedge/shrub cutter is surprisingly good but ENSURE that you get the newer version with BLACK & SILVER blades as it is much better & both old & new are on the shelves together.

The new version has a very clever anti stall system that makes it able to cut thicker stems.
