Yes, you read it right - in Conns !

That was the advertised price in their display unit for a brand new 300mm 2.8 NIkon lens so with divilment in mind I said I'll take it ... (offer, acceptance and all that)

They then realised the typo (should have been 3149 apparently), they "dont have it in stock" and when I pointed out the one in the display cabinet it was "for display purposes" and not for sale

Pity they don't have to sell it at that price. You could've ordered two.

Legally they are in the right.

The price tag is an Invitation to Treat. You then make an Offer to Treat. If that offer is accepted then a contract is in place, until then they can back out.

That lens at that price certainly WOULD be a treat ! What I find amusing about the story is that the sales guy presumably didn't have a clue , instead of just laughing it off and amending the sticker price he sounds as though he hummed and hawed and made excuses
